Taproot Theatre presents Mr. Pim Passes By
A rediscovered 1919 romantic comedy by A.A. Milne
SEATTLE – December 4, 2013 – Taproot Theatre’s 2014 Season opens with Mr. Pim Passes By, a
rediscovered 1919 comedy by A.A. Milne packed with delightfully droll humor. When the befuddled
albeit charming Mr. Pim stops in for a visit one offhand remark turns a conventional English household
upside down. Associate Artistic Director Karen Lund directs Mr. Pim Passes By, which opens on January
31 and runs through March 1 with low-price previews on January 29 and 30.
Olivia looks at George with all her heart in her eyes. She is giving him his last chance to say
“Damn Telworthy; you’re mine!” He struggles desperately with himself… Will he?—will he? But
we shall never know, for at that moment Anne comes in.
How does a woman want to be romanced? Poor George has no idea, though his wife Olivia is
determined to help him learn. When Mr. Pim’s misinformation throws their entire marriage
into question she takes the opportunity to coach George in the ways of romancing a wife who,
according to their niece Dinah, “always seems to have thought of things about a week before
they happen.”
Do George and Olivia love each other enough to fight for their marriage? Will Dinah and Brian
be permitted to follow their hearts? Will Mr. Pim finally get his facts straight? And most
importantly, will Olivia ever get the curtains she wants?
Come see the delightful Mr. Pim Passes By to learn the answers to these questions and more.
Taproot Theatre’s premiere production of Mr. Pim Passes By is directed by Associate Artistic
Director Karen Lund, featuring Ryan Childers, Chris Ensweiler, Ginny Holladay, Kim Morris, April
Poland, Allie Pratt and Daniel Stoltenberg. The production team includes scenic and sound
designer Mark Lund, costume designer Sarah Burch Gordon and lighting designer Roberta
Russell. Micah Lynn Trapp serves as stage manager, Marianna De Fazio as dialect coach and L.
Nicol Cabe as dramaturg.
Following Mr. Pim Passes By is In the Book Of by John Walch, running March 28 – April 26.
