This ADDENDUM #1 shall hereby be and become a part of the Contract Documents the same as if originally bound thereto. The following clarifications, amendments, additions, revisions, changes and modifications change the original Contract Documents only in the amount and to the extent hereinafter specified and set forth in this ADDENDUM #1. Q1. Specifications 264113, part 1, section 1.4(B) indicates to provide the UL Master Label as well as the LPI Master Certification. Please note that this will add significant cost to the project by having (2) 3rd party independent NRTL for inspections. UL will require surge protection to be installed at the main electrical service entrance and this must be a UL1449 3rd edition, a type 1 or a type 2 device and must have an iN rating of 20kA or greater, surge protection is also required at the communication / data entrance lines per UL497 and UL497C, and at all roof mounted antennas / satellite dishes per UL452. Surge protection must be at the electrical service entrance, however all other devices can be excluded. Please note that there is no such device listed by UL that meets the UL452 requirements. The LPI Master Certification has the same requirements; however LPI will exclude all surge protection and will provide a certificate for structural lightning protection or for structural lightning protection with surge protection. We feel surge protection is very important in the system and the owner should determine the level of protection desired. By providing both certificates will double the inspection and certification fees. A1. The contractor shall provide a LPI and UL Certified system for each building shown on the drawings. This will include surge protection for the main electrical service for each building (6-Apratment Buildings, 1-Clubhouse and 1-Fire Pump Building). Contractor shall provide a Surge Protection Device (SPD) at each main electrical service disconnect switch/panel. SPD shall be PQ Protection, PQM Series, Model PQM300, UL Type 1, UL 20 kA “In” rating, UL 96A LPS Mater Label Compliant, 200 KA modular per mode, UL 1449 3rd Edition listed, 200K AIC rating with integral disconnect switch mounted in a NEMA 4 enclosure. SPD shall be provided with a (10) ten year warranty. Q2. Part 2, section 2.1(D) call for 5/8" x 10' copper clad ground rod and detail on drawing E103 indicate using 3/4" x 10' copper clad. Please clarify. A2. Contractor shall follow the drawings and provide all ground rods at ¾” x 10’-0”. Q3. Drawing E103 indicates using traffic rated concrete test wells at each ground rod with exothermic welds, while specifications 264113 do not indicate test wells and Lightning Protection Notes on Drawing E100 indicate using UL listed clamps for ground rods. Please clarify if test wells and exothermic welds are required. A3. Ground test wells are shown on the drawings and specified in Specification Section 260526, 3.4D. Test wells are required for this project. Q4. Part 2.1 section (B) indicates to use Class I aluminum air terminals while details on E103 indicate using 24" tall air terminals. Naturally taller is better but we tend to see a maintenance problem in very tall air terminals. 18" tall air terminals will blend into the surrounding better and will match the universities existing sites on materials. Please clarify if 24" air terminals are required. A4. The use of 18” aluminum air terminal is acceptable – refer to revised Electrical Drawing E103. Q5. Site drawing does not indicate the Fire Pump Building in this scope of work. Is this building to be protected or excluded? Please clarify. A5. The existing Fire Pump Building will be provided with a lightning protection system and will be part of this project – refer to revised Electrical Drawing E001 and E102 for design layout. Q6. Clubhouse / Fitness Center Building has a pool area with light poles and a metallic railing surrounding. We highly suggest installing air terminals on these light poles per UL96A and provide additional bonding to metallic objects to better provide zones of protection for public use. This area is not defined in the drawings nor is a code requirement. Due to the recent fatalities due to lightning strikes, we highly suggest providing this additional protection. A6. Refer to revised Electrical Sheet E102 for the bonding of the aluminum railing around the pool. Light poles have plastic globes mounted on aluminum poles and are not required by code and will be within the zone of protection from the roof system. Q7. Proposers wish to know if both certifications are required, UL & LPI. A7. In response to the certifications – we will require the following: • LPI Certificate at submittal time • UL Master Label at end of installation THIS ADDENDUM NOW BECOMES A PART OF THE ORIGINAL SOLICITATION. THE ADDENDUM ACKNOWLEDGMENT FORM SHALL BE SIGNED BY AN AUTHORIZED COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE, DATED AND RETURNED AS INSTRUCTED WITH THE SOLICITATION REPLY. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY SUBJECT THE REPLY TO DISQUALIFICATION. _________________________________________ PROPOSER NAME _________________________________________ ADDRESS _________________________________________ CITY AND STATE _________________________________________ AUTHORIZED SIGNATURE: _________________________________________ PRINTED NAME _________________________________________ PHONE _________________________________________ DATE
