WELCOME
To Seguin Township!
We’re pleased that you’ve chosen to purchase property in Seguin Township. You are now part of one
of the most exciting, progressive, and picturesque communities in Ontario! This guide provides a quick
reference to some of the essential services, resources, and local regulations designed to help you feel at
home more quickly. You can find more detail on our website at www.seguin.ca or by contacting the
municipal office at 705.732.4300 or 1.877.473.4846.
Form of Government. The Township of Seguin was created by Minister’s Order, dated May 8th, 1997. Pursuant to this Order, the Township of Seguin became a newly incorporated municipality, effective
January 1st, 1998. The Township of Seguin is the amalgamated municipality of the former Townships of Christie, Foley and Humphrey,
and the Village of Rosseau as well as an annexation of the western
portion of the unorganized Township of Monteith. The Township of
Seguin is the most southern municipality in the District of Parry
Sound. It is also the first municipality with Northern Ontario status on
the Highway 400 corridor.
Public Services. Quality services are provided by the Township of
Seguin through several means; that is, by employees of the Township,
contractors or volunteers, or through joint municipal boards or committees. These services include land use planning, building inspections and permits, economic development, recreation and cultural
facilities and programs, health and long-term care facilities and services, cemeteries, libraries, waste management and disposal services,
fire prevention and protection, road construction and maintenance,
animal control services and environmental programs.
Finding Help. Some important services, including education and environmental protection are provided either by private organizations or
by units of government that extend beyond the Township’s jurisdiction. You can find the contact information for many of these agencies
in this guide. The foundation of community life in Seguin is built upon families, individuals, and neighbours who assume primary responsibility for themselves and their property. Enterprise, collaboration,
and self-reliance are important values in Seguin Township and we
will be happy to support you in those efforts.
