Course Text: Emergency Medical Responder,
Fifth Edition, American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons (AAOS), Jones and Bartlett, 2011. (an
optional workbook is available)
Through lectures, discussions and hands-on
practical experiences this course is designed to
provide the student with the knowledge and skills
necessary to function as an Emergency Medical
Responder in emergency situations. The course
will prepare the student to serve as an essential
link in the emergency medical services (EMS)
system. The course content covers knowledge and
psychomotor skills required to make appropriate
decisions and provide immediate care in response
to medical emergencies. The course includes Cardio
Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional
Rescuer with Automated External Defibrillation
(AED) and advanced First Aid skills. Students that
successfully complete practical and knowledge
based exams are eligible for the appropriate
Emergency Medical Responder (First Responder)
certification card which is valid for two years. This
is a 16-week course, meeting each Tuesday evening
from 6-9 p.m. and one Saturday morning to be
announced.

Cosmetology
Nail Technician Licensing Course

This course will provide training in sanitation,
sterilization and the anatomy of hands, foot and
basic manicuring, pedicuring and sculptured nails.
Upon satisfactorily completing the course, you will
receive a certificate that will allow you to take the
Massachusetts State Board Exam. Passing the board
exam you will become a Licensed Nail Technician.
Cost includes textbook and nail kit.
Cosmetology Licensing Course

All students receive 1000 hours of instruction
required to qualify for the Massachusetts Licensing
Exam. Students are prepared to provide services
such as manicure, hair, pedicure, and make-up.
Students will learn the anatomy and physiology.
After completing your 1000 hours you will receive
a certification that will allow you to take the
Massachusetts State Board Exam. After passing
the board exam, you will become a licensed
cosmetologist. Class begins on and ends on.
Cosmetology Refresher Course

This refresher course is designed for those who
have completed their 1000 hours but need a
refresher course before taking the state licensing
exam. It is for cosmetologists whose licenses have
expired or those who came to Massachusetts
from out-of-state and who need to take the
Massachusetts State Licensing Exam. Students
taking the refresher course will have one-onone instruction to give them an overview of the
practical section of the state licensing exam. The
cost is $600 for a 12 hour refresher module to be
paid in full at the time of registration. Extended
hours are determined by the instructor.

This class will allow you to learn to safely use
welders, torches, plasma cutters and equipment
to shape metal into art. Maybe a candle holder,
a wall hanging, a plant holder, or maybe even a
decorative wrought iron wheel barrow for in your
garden. You could surprise your friends and family
with your new talent.

This course will
introduce you to
the fundamentals of
Shielded Metal Arc
Welding, Gas Metal
Arc welding, Gas
Tungsten Arc Welding,
Oxyacetylene cutting,
and Plasma Cutting.
Shop safety and
equipment set up will
be covered. Welding
helmets and gloves will
be provided. Students will need to bring safety
shoes, safety glasses, work pants, and a shirt with
long sleeves. A course completion certificate will be
availible upon conclusion fo the course.
“Understanding your Modern Automobile”: This
class is an entry level course open to all levels and
geared towards those who want to “do it yourself”
and save on expensive labor costs or just gain more
overall car knowledge. We will discuss and review
basic automotive repairs including: Oil Change
& Maintenance, Battery, Starting, and Charging
systems, Brakes, Suspension, and Electrical
systems. Check Engine Light and Noise Diagnosis
will also be discussed. Students may work on
their personal vehicles during the hands on portion
of the classes. Work boots and safety glasses are
required for this class.
