National Certificate in
Adult Education and Training
- New Zealand Environment (Level 4)
The National Certificate in Adult Education and Training – New Zealand Environment can be
made up of a number of combinations of NZQA unit standards. This qualification was
reviewed by NZQA and will be replaced in 2018. If you already have some of the unit
standards you should complete the others now before the qualification changes.
LEARNPLUS sat one the review panel to construct the new unit standards for release in 2016.
LEARNPLUS™ offers all of the combinations however a straightforward way to achieve the
qualification is to work through the following selection. LEARNPLUS™ has developed an
integrated and seamless assessment to measure competency in the following unit standards:

The assessment includes:

Defining learning outcomes for three groups and three one-to-one sessions

Selecting content and putting it in a logical order

Planning the logistics of the sessions and getting information from others

Developing the lesson plans

Designing formative or summative assessment activities to check learning
(note – this does not have to be NZQA formal summative assessments – formal
assessment design falls under another unit standard 11552)

Considering the cultural needs of your learners

Delivering three group and three individual on-job-training sessions of at least 30
minutes each

Collecting feedback from learners

Reviewing the training sessions you delivered

Getting your manager to verify your work and comment on your review
This assessment can be done over a period of time and can also be done by a portfolio of
recent evidence for recognition of current competence.
It is beneficial to break the work into manageable chunks that align with the activities you
currently do at work or the things you want to do at work. The assessment activities are
designed in a way that has you apply the theory to realistic workplace situations so you can
demonstrate your knowledge and skill in a contextualised and realistic manner.
