Hope Appeal
Our Hope Appeal goals are:
Holy Trinity: $23,409.37; 68 % of goal
achieved, with 36% participation.
SS. Cyril & Methodius: $24,800.72; 33 %
of Goal achieved, with 14% of participation.
The goals are determined as a percentage
of the average regular collections of the last three
fiscal years.
The Hope Appeal supports the Diocesan
Ministries that in this year of Mercy truly are about
the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. Locally those ministries are; Catholic Charities, Hospital Chaplaincies, the Vietnamese, Spanish and
Deaf Apostolates, Youth & Young Adult Programs
as well as the Faith Formation Resource Center.
The donations do come to us here in the Broome
County area.
It is important to remember, failure to meet
our goal requires that we pay the difference
through our regular collections. Therefore, broad
and generous participation will accomplish a
great deal.

Remember—our lives are a dialog between
God’s mercy and our weaknesses. The only
thing at which we are adequate is being inadequate. We are forever falling short at something, no matter the strength of our sincerity,
good intention, and willpower. Only mercy, receiving it and giving it, can lead us out of the
choppy waters of our own anxieties, worry, and
joylessness. Only in knowing mercy do we
know gratitude.
Does your leadership come out of your spirituality? Fr. Charles Vavonese will be offering
the Formation in Ministry course: “The Spirituality of Leadership” at St. Thomas Aquinas in
Binghamton on Thursday evenings 6:30-8:30pm
from July 7th-August 11th. Cost of $35 includes
tuition and books. Call STA parish office at 7974015 to reserve your space.
Fit for Heaven books are located at the church
entrances. These were a gift to the men of the
parish on Father’s Day. The best Catholic Athletes and Coaches talk about sports, faith, leadership, family and heaven. Please feel free to
take one (or more) copies for yourself, family
members or friends. It is all about reaching out
to others with a great message of faith lived.
A Family Perspective from the office of Family
Life Education: July like the seventy two disciples sent out by Jesus in today’s gospel, families are expected to be Missionaries. By our
lives, words and life style we proclaim peace,
commitment, fidelity and respect to a culture
caught up with violence and gratification.
Works of Mercy—July: The Corporal Works of
Mercy: Feed the hungry; the Spiritual Works of
Mercy: Instruct the ignorant
Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all! By
uniting we stand, by dividing we fall.
John Dickinson
