HIGH QUALITY, INNOVATIVE VALVE
SOLUTIONS FOR OIL, GAS AND ENERGY
APPLICATIONS - WORLDWIDE
Flow Control Technologies (FCT) was
created from the union of several recognised
valve brands that have served the oil,
gas and energy industries for more than
30 years; IVC, SDT, Mapegaz, Cipeg and
Munzing were merged together in 1994 and
became Flow Control Technologies. The
merging of these brands created one of the
leading companies of ball valves
FCT offer the following products
for a wide range of applications:
• Split body, top entry and fully welded
design trunnion mounted ball valves
• Compact valve, tandem valves, pig
launcher/receiver valves
• Valves for special applications, such as:
- High temperature / Cryogenic
- High pressure (API6A)
-Subsea
- HIPPS
- DIB / DBB
- Corrosive fluid
-Slurries
- Pig launcher/Receiver
To design and manufacture innovative
solutions, FCT utilise the latest 3-D and
Finite Element Analysis Design (FEA)
Software and manages the manufacturing
process through SAP Enterprise Resource
Planning (ERP).
4 | FCT Ball Valves
The Saint-Juery facility utilises in-house
manufacturing and testing facilities, and has
the ability to undertake special testing such
as, cryogenic and high temperature, bending
moment, fugitive emission test, endurance
testing and hyberbaric testing capabilities.
FCT aims to provide complete satisfaction to
customers in terms of product performance
and reliability, coupled with commercial
competitiveness.
The business operates a comprehensive
certified Quality Assurance System, which
is in accordance with ISO 9001 - 2008 and
API Q1 9th edition, and in addition, conforms
to the requirements of API 6D/6A/6DSS, and
The Environmental Protection and Health
and Safety Requirements of ISO 14001 /
OSHAS 18001 and for welding activities to
the requirements ISO 3834-2. All valves
are PED approved, categories III and/or IV
and SIL level assessed to IEC 61508/61511
standards.

SUCCESS STORIES
High pressure (HP)/ high
temperature (HT)
FCT was a pioneer in the development of
the first prototype - an NPS 18 API 15000
(~35t). This was built with the help of
CEE in 1995/1996 on the demand of Elf/
Shell for the Elgin Franklin field. It had
to go through an extremely demanding
qualification test (over 1000 cycles, high/
low temperatures etc). The first valve
was able to operate against a differential
pressure of 860 bars @ 185°C. With this
success, FCT delivered all the HP/HT valves
of the wellhead platform of Elgin Franklin:
~70 valves, from NPS 8 to 18 API 15K.
FCT became the leader for HP/HT ball
valves and supplied products for all the
main subsequent projects using ball valves,
including:
• ONGC / Deen Dayal, India (2011) / ~130
valves from NPS 2 to 16 API 15K (HIPPS
valves)
• TOTAL / West Franklin, North Sea (2013)
/30 valves from NPS 8 to 18 API 15K
(HIPPS valves)
• DONG / Herje, North Sea (2014) / ~60
valves from to NPS 2 to 12 API 15K
• MAERSK / Culzean, North Sea (2016)
12 | FCT Ball Valves
HIPPS (High Integrity Pressure
Protection System)
FCT was one of the first suppliers providing
ball valves for HIPPS application in 1997.
FCT was the 1st ball valve manufacturer to
be SIL certified in 2002.
FCT focus on highest integrity valves for
harsh applications. These valves are built
with all options preventing from failure in
order to guarantee the maximum safety
level.
On Elgin Franklin, in 1997, Elf/Shell asked
FCT to develop NPS 18 API 15000 valves
with pressure protection function of
downstream process platform. Without this
equipment, it would not have been possible
to de-rate the downstream installation (to
~ ASME 1500#), then the production would
not have been profitable because process
equipment of such high rating was not
available on the market at that time, and
even nowadays, the cost would be far too
expensive to be profitable.

Servicing/Site assistance
Oseberg, Norsk Hydro complex of platforms,
was built in the mid 1980’s. It produces and
collects around 25M€/day of oil.
As Statoil wanted to use this complex
for 20 more years, they have to replace
critical valves (old design valves were
corroded, eroded etc). FCT was involved
in refurbishing the duplex valves from soft
seats with elastomer o’rings to metal seats
with PTFE lipseals. Carbon steel valves have
been replaced by new generation of DIB-1
(double isolation and bleed) valves, metal
seated with PTFE lipseals.
