How to use a Digital Multimeter (DMM)
You will notice there are three things a DMM can measure
Voltage = unit of measure Volt (V)
Current = unit of measure Ampere (A)
Resistance = unit of measure Ohm (
)
There are many different settings within each characteristic, each setting has a range
of values it can measure.
You need to choose this carefully based on the objects you are measuring in order to
get the most accurate reading.
How to connect your DMM depends on what you are measuring
Current - connect in series to what you
want to measure the current of so that
current passes through the DMM
Voltage - connect in parallel to the
device you are measuring. Hook in before
and after it.
Resistance - connect in parallel to the
device you are measuring. Hook in before
and after it.
