Introduction to NLT Training Services
NLT Training Services has been one of the region’s leading training providers for over 40 years,
operating from sites in Chesterfield and Scunthorpe, dedicated to delivering quality training.
We offer a diverse and innovative range of professional, skilled and manual training programmes.
Through continued development and research into ever changing market demands, we
continue to be first choice for local and national employers. The quality and consistency of our
delivery has been accredited through a range of nationally recognised awarding bodies.
We encourage the continuous professional development of our staff, who have years of
industrial experience as well as teaching and assessor qualifications.
NLT offers a flexible approach to training. Delivery can take place at our Chesterfield or
Scunthorpe site or on our clients’ premises. Both sites offer modern meeting room facilities
and we have a purpose built engineering workshop at our Chesterfield site.

Apprenticeships
NLT have a great deal of experience in delivering
work based training in the engineering and related
occupational sectors, we are supported by government
funding via the Skills Funding Agency (SFA).
Many businesses have benefited from advantages in

Work Place Learning (WPL)
An alternative to Apprenticeships, they are particularly suitable for
people aged 19 plus.
For employers, WPL provides an opportunity to develop bespoke
training packages that meet the needs of your business, whilst
providing access to nationally recognised qualifications.
WPL can be used to develop employees attainment levels, give them
the qualifications to support their career aspirations, and can also
be used as a route to access higher levels of training and education.

Health & Safety Training
NLT provide a range of courses accredited by major awarding bodies. All our
courses are delivered by highly experienced and knowledgeable tutors.
Our courses range from general training in Health & Safety, to specific training
to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities and the due diligence
requirements of businesses.
Safety Passports
CCNSG Safety Passport – provides a basic knowledge of health and safety
for all site personnel to enable safe working and reduced risks on site – a
mandatory requirement for Petro-Chemical and Power Generation sites.
MPQC/SPA Quarry Passport – similar to CCNSG, this course specialises in
providing training specific to the mineral extraction and products industry.

BVCA/VOL European Safety Passport – this is the European equivalent to the CCNSG passport, and NLT is proud to be a
sole provider of this training in the UK.
IOSH Managing Safely
IOSH Managing Safely – provides a nationally recognised qualification for managers and supervisors, designed to educate
on practical actions to handle health & safety in their teams and generate a safe working culture.
NEBOSH
Offering managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations the National General Certificate, designed to give
a broad understanding of health and safety issues, managing risks effectively and providing candidates the opportunity to
obtain results above the national average.
Specific Occupational H&S Training
Abrasive Wheels – suitable for those responsible for selecting,
mounting and using abrasive wheels to ensure compliance with
the PUWER Regulations 1998.
Manual Handling – provides guidance and support in ensuring
the safe handling and lifting of goods in compliance with Manual
Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
Slinging & Lifting – provides delegates with the underpinning
knowledge to enable safe operation of lifting equipment within
their operational environment in accordance with statutory
regulations.
In addition to half-day awareness courses and one day
practical courses, we can also provide Train the Trainer
Instructor courses for Abrasive Wheels & Manual Handling.
Engineering Training Courses
NLT support a range of abilities, starting at entry level to the up-skilling of experienced engineers. We train to nationally
recognised qualifications and are flexible in our delivery, helping to meet the requirements of the employer and employee.
Subject to conditions, NLT can provide funding access to full Apprenticeships and stand alone qualifications at levels 2 and
3 for all engineering subjects.
In addition to Apprenticeship and NVQ training courses, we offer:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) - a one day
course covering the risk assessment of electrical
appliances.
Mechanical Cross-Skilling - bespoke courses
covering the use of a range of machinery types.
Basic Pneumatic & Hydraulics - short courses
covering practical and theoretical applications.
Fabrication & Welding
Welding Assessments - one-to-one assessments to
identify individual training needs.
TIG/MIG/MMA Training - bespoke training tailored to
individual needs.
Butt/Fillet Weld Procedures - training for specific
company procedures.
Coded Welding Training - training to BSEN288/287
and access to Coded Welding Assessments.
Cutting Torch Training - covering the safe use of
cutting torches and gas safety.
Basic Electrical Competency – an introductory
course covering the basic understanding of
electricity.
City & Guilds 17th Edition - providing an
understanding of the requirements of the 17th
Edition Wiring regulations. Update courses are
also available.
Business Administration / Customer Service / Accountancy
NLT also provide training to businesses and their office
support staff.
Support staff are vital to the smooth running of businesses
and we offer a range of courses to meet their training
requirements:Business Administration and Customer Service NLT
can provide access to full Apprenticeships at Levels 2
and 3 through Apprenticeships or full NVQs for Work
Place Learning.
Accountancy – NLT can provide access to Association
of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualifications at Level
2 and Level 3 through Apprenticeships or full NVQs for
Work Place Learning.
Team Leading & Management
NLT delivers management development programmes
designed to improve staff motivation by further developing
an individual’s team leading and managerial skills.
These courses can be delivered as full Apprenticeship
frameworks or through Work Place Learning courses.
Training programmes are also available for team leaders
and first line managers, ranging from a short four day
training programme to the more challenging programmes
which take place over a 12 month period.
Bespoke training can be arranged in partnership with
employers ensuring that individual and company needs
are met and where appropriate, off-site, team building,
problem solving and communication sessions can be
arranged.

Conference Room Hire
Conference rooms are available for hire at our offices in
Chesterfield and Scunthorpe. Each conference room is
equipped with multimedia projectors and flipchart, and
can comfortably seat between 10 and 100 people.
Lunch and refreshments can also be provided by prior
arrangement.
Manufacturing / Warehousing & Distribution
As part of our broad support to businesses, NLT provides training relevant to a variety of manufacturing industries, whereby
a more in-depth engineering qualification may not be relevant, but employers are seeking to ensure their staff are in
possession of accredited and nationally recognised qualifications.
NLT also provides support to employees in developing their skills in the storage
and distribution sectors.
We have a range of courses available including full Apprenticeship frameworks
to suit a variety of manufacturing, warehousing and distribution sectors.
Performing Manufacturing Operations and Warehouse & Distribution NLT can provide access to full Apprenticeships at Level 2 or full NVQs for Work
Place Learning.
Manual Handling – provides guidance and support in ensuring the safe
handling and lifting of goods in compliance with Manual Handling Operations
Regulations 1992.

NLT will always endeavour to assist you to gain access to funded training opportunities, but sometimes this is not possible
due to eligibility conditions.
If we cannot provide you with a funded alternative, then you can count upon us to quote a cost-effective and realistic
commercial price for the training, whether it be full Apprenticeship frameworks, or stand alone NVQ’s and Technical
Certificates.
