What are these elements that define spaces?
Vertical Linear Elements
1- Definition
Field
A vertical linear element establishes a POINT
on the ground.
It is DIRECTIONLESS except for the PATH THAT LEAD US TO IT
Complete the definition

Taj Mahal
Analyze the vertical elements in this famous building.
The five points of the new architecture, which Le Corbusier finally formulated in
1926 included :
“pilotis, a free floor plan, a free façade ,ribbon windows, and a roof garden”
(1) the pilotis : elevating the mass off the ground,
(2) the free plan, achieved through the separation of the load-bearing columns
from the walls subdividing the space,
(3) the free façade, the effect of the free plan in the vertical plane
(4) the long horizontal sliding window
(5) the roof garden, restoring, supposedly, the area of ground covered by the
house.
