Florida Statutes 316.074(1) and 316.075(1)(c)(1), authorizes the use of red light cameras. Florida Statute 318.15(a) provides for the possible suspension of issuance or renewal of a vehicle registration as well as the possible suspension of a driver license if found not to be in compliance with payment of such a citation. The City of Bradenton activated red light camera photo enforcement system in August 2009. The City has partnered with ACS Inc., a company with a national reputation in red light photo enforcement systems, to manage the program. Under Florida law, the citations issued through the Traffic Safety Program are civil infractions; no insurance premiums are impacted and no points are added to a violator’s license.
