Site and Schedule
The project location is US-89 and SR-180 in American Fork and Lehi, Utah.
It is a mill (4”) and fill (2.5”) night paving job.
Two IC rollers will be shipped to the job location by Aug. 2-3, 2012.
The IC demo will be from Aug. 6 to 8, 2012. The Open House will be on AM of Aug. 9.
A project briefing will be conducted onsite on Aug. 6 AM followed by training for roller operators
and other personnel. The briefing/training location will be provided by contractor, Staker &
Parson.
Paving for this study will be at the nights of Aug. 6, 7, and 8. Paving hours are from 8:00PM
(actual start at mid-night) to 7:00PM.
Contractor (Skaker & Parson) Support
• Provide 2 personnel to be trained to operate the IC rollers.
• Provide survey personnel to be trained to setup/de-setup of IC components (GPS, computers).
Setup/de-setup IC components at the beginning and end of each paving period.

Provide a contact person to receive the IC roller delivery: Kim Shellington (spelling?) – (801) 4550160. Provide storage for the IC rollers.
Provide a contact person to coordinate onsite observation: Jonas Skater, (801) 871-6601, (801)
707-5653.
Mobilize the IC roller from the roller storage location to the job site on Monday, Aug. 3.
Mobilize the IC roller from the job site to the Open House location by 11AM on Thursday, Aug. 9.
Provide a QC personnel to perform nuclear density gauge measurements.
Provide fuel for the IC roller.
Contact normal corings for acceptance tests.
Provide a 12-v car battery to power the GPS base station during the IC demo. (tentative)
Lend up to 4 sets of PPE gears to the research team.
HAMM’s Support
• Provide a double drum IC roller (HD 120). Arrange for shipping. Get reimbursement of shipment
from FHWA IC team.
• The HAMM IC roller will use OmniSTAR GPS.
• Provide an OmniSTAR rover + data logger. (to confirmed?)
• Provide a tech support personnel (Tim and 2 tech supports from Germany) during the demo and
make a presentation during the Open House.
Sakai’s Support
• Provide a double drum IC roller (SW880). (Confirmed) Arrange for shipping. Get
reimbursement of shipment from FHWA IC team.
• Provide a Trimble GPS base station. (Confirmed)
• Provide a tech support personnel (Brandon and Kei) during the demo and make a presentation
during the Open House.
Trimble’s Support
• George will contact Trimble’s local dealer to provide a hand-held GPS rover, GPS base
station, a personnel for on-site tech support and to make a presentation during the
Open House. (Brad to confirm?)
Other Tests
• Bob will contact Virginia of Kessler to provide a LWD-a and an operator onsite. (LWDa won’t be available)
• Lee will contact Tom Yu of FHWA to provide a SR-GPR and an operator onsite. (Tom
Yu will be at the Open House but the SR-GPR survey will be done after the IC demo)
• George will contact MOBA to provide Jonas further information on PAVE-IR. Decision
to include PAVE-IR in this study will be made by Jonas. (PAVE-IR will be included in
this study)
Utah DOT Support
• Provide personnel to be trained on IC.
• (Region 3) Provide coring and lab tests for 50+ cores designated by the FHWA IC team.
• Coordinate with FHWA-Utah for the Open House.
• Provide an LCD projector and a screen (note: these equipments are built-in) for the Open House.
Open House
• The Open House will be held at the UDOT Region 3 conference room (658 North 1500 West,
Orem, Utah 84057) on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, from 9:00AM to noon.
• It will consist of a 3-hr indoor presentation & 1-hr outdoor demonstration.
• The IC rollers will be at the parking facility for the outdoor demonstration.

John and Brent will coordinate the promotion effort to AGC, location universities,
LTAP, APA, and etc. (Complete)
Brent will coordinate the lunch event and seek sponsorship (Sakai, MOBA and other
vendors). Tim of HAMM will sponsor portion of the lunch. (Confirmed)
George will help prepare flyer and online registration. Capacity set at 60. Will find an
alternative location if exceeding 60. (Complete)
John will contact BYU for a possible alternative location as a backup. (NA)
FHWA IC Team
• Provide 4 personnel onsite.
• George will rent a van to carpool during IC demo. Will bring lights. (Confirmed)
• George will update the experimental plan. (Complete)
• George will update the contents of the project webpage that serves as a
communication vehicle for all participants of this demo. (Complete)
Next Meeting:
• George will poll a date between July 16 and 27 for another meeting prior to the IC
demo. (set to July 30)
