WARNING
FOR YOUR SAFETY - ONLY the plumbing pieces in the Versa Plumb kits as shown in figures 3, 4,
and 5 are intended for “do it yourself” (DIY) homeowner installation. Any pool equipment such as
heaters, filters, pumps, etc. must be installed and serviced by a contractor who is licensed and qualified in pool equipment by the jurisdiction in which the product will be installed where such state or
local requirements exist. In the event no such state or local requirement exists, the service provider or
maintainer must be a professional with sufficient experience in pool equipment service and maintenance
so that all of the instructions in this manual can be followed exactly. Before installing this product, read and
follow all warning notices and instructions that accompany this product. Failure to follow warning notices and
instructions may result in property damage, serious injury, or death. Improper installation and/or operation
will void the warranty.
These instructions are to be used with the following Versa Plumb Kits:
VPK-CVSTD -- CV Standard, Versa Plumb Kit
VPK-CVSLR -- CV Solar, Versa Plumb Kit
VPK-CSSTD -- CS Standard, Versa Plumb Kit
WARNING
These instructions address the installation of the Jandy® Versa Plumb Kits only. In order to prevent risk
of electrical shock, carbon monoxide poisoning, explosion, or fire, which could result in property damage,
serious injury or death, installation and servicing of any pool equipment other than the Jandy Versa Plumb
Kits must be done only by a contractor who is licensed and qualified in pool equipment by the jurisdiction in
which the product is installed where such state or local requirements exist. In the event no such state or local requirement exists, the service provider or maintainer must be a professional with sufficient experience in
pool equipment service and maintenance so that all of the instructions in the specific products’ manual can
be followed exactly.

• Installation or use of equipment other than those
shown on the layout template will result in different
dimensions of the equipment to the edges of the
template. However, following the installation steps
in Section 4, will still result in proper equipment
placement based on the preassembled Versa Plumb
kit components.
• Lay out the template and use the perforated holes
for the suction and return lines (as described in
Section 4) or use the dimensions shown on the
layout template (see Figures 9 and 10) to position
the equipment pad. Standard equipment pads are
shown on the template in the event you will not be
using a full, poured pad.
• There are three equipment pad configurations
shown on the Versa Plumb template.

WARNING
B.
In order to prevent risk of electrical shock,
fire, or Carbon Monoxide poisoning, before
beginning the installation of the Jandy® Versa
Plumb® Kit, be sure to do the following:
• Turn off all elctrical power, gas supply and
other sources of power to the pool equipment
• Follow the pool filter’s installation instructions
to properly drain the filter for service.

WARNING
Before restarting the system, consult the
installation and operating manuals for
each piece of equipment for proper startup
procedures.
NEVER start pump while standing
within five (5) feet of the filter. Starting
the pump while there is pressurized
air in the system can cause the filter
lid to be blown off, which can cause
death, serious personal injury or
property damage.
WARNING
In order to minimize the possibility of ingesting
potentially toxic substances which could cause
injury from illness, including death, whenever
the instructions call for the use of “CPVC
cement”, use a cement that has been listed by
NSF or an equivalent Nationally Recognized
Testing Laboratory (NRTL) or certification body.
Read and follow the cement manufacturer’s
danger and cautionary statements and
instructions for use.

Side 1 facing upward.
2. Position the pool suction and return lines in front of
the equipment pad location.
3. Position the various equipment pad components.
Bring the suction and return piping up through the
perforated holes on the template.
4. Connect the pump to the suction lines (pool only or
pool/spa combo) using CPVC cement. The length
of pipe into the suction port of the pump should be a
minimum of four times the pipe diameter.
5. Use CPVC cement and connect the pump to the
filter using the sweep elbow with the ½” NPT
plug component of the kit, marked as “A” on the
template. This positions the filter.
6. Use CPVC cement and connect the filter to the
heater using the straight length of pipe with union
nuts on both ends, marked as “B” on the template.
This positions the heater.
7. Attach the check valve (marked as “C” on the
template) to the outlet of the heat pump making sure
the flow arrow points in the correct direction . 8. If desired, attach the salt chlorinator spool to the
check valve and then run the return line from the
spool to the trench using CPVC cement.
NOTE Also included in the Versa Plumb Kit are two
additional 3-way valves and a spare 12” of pipe
for your use in the event that you add additional
components on the return system.

2. Position the pool suction and return lines in front of
the equipment pad location.
To avoid the potential hazard to the user, the United
States Consumer Products Safety Commision has
determined that the temperature of the water at
the INLET to a pool or spa must not exceed 122°F
(50°C).
NOTE: The water in a spa should never exceed
104°F (40°C). Water temperatures between 100°F
(38°C) and 104°F (40°C) are considered safe for
a healthy adult. Lower water temperatures are
recommended for young children and when spa use
exceeds 10 minutes.
Solar collector panels MUST drain down completely
when the circulating pump is off. To allow this,
the solar collector panels must be installed at an
elevation higher than the pool surface, and the
solar collector panels MUST be provided with an
automatic air relief/vacuum-breaker valve at the top
of the collector panel(s).
WARNING
3. Position the various equipment pad components.
Bring the suction and return piping up through the
perforated holes on the template.
To prevent equipment damage and/or scald
hazards to the user, only solar collector panels with
automatic air relief/vacuum breaker valves should
be used. Solar collector panels MUST drain down
when the circulation pump is off.
4. Connect the pump to the suction lines (pool only or
pool/spa combo) using CPVC cement. The length
of pipe into the suction port of the pump should be a
minimum of four times the pipe diameter.
Read all manufacturer’s equipment installation
instructions and safety information before
installation, testing, or operation of the system.
5. Use CPVC cement and connect the pump to the
filter using the sweep elbow with the ½” NPT
plug component of the kit, marked as “A” on the
template. This positions the filter.
6. Use CPVC cement and connect the filter to the
heater using the provisional solar assembly
component with union nuts on both ends, marked as
“B” on the template.
NOTE Also included in the Versa Plumb® Kit are two
additional 3-way valves and a spare 12” of pipe
for your use in the event that you add additional
components on the return system.
Release all air from the system before testing.
Water pressure for test must not exceed 35 psi.
Water temperature for test must not exceed 100°F
(38°C).
NEVER start pump while standing
within five (5) feet of the filter. Starting
the pump while there is pressurized air
in the system can cause the filter lid to
be blown off, which can cause death,
serious personal injury or property
damage.
NOTE The check valve and the Jandy valve actuator
(shown in figure 5) are not included in the CV
Solar Versa Plumb Kit.
1. Install a check valve and piping (see Figure 5).
2. Install the Jandy valve actuator onto the Jandy
3-port diverter valve (see Figure 5).
Page 5
3. Install the solar controller (not shown) per the
manufacturer’s instructions and connect to the
Jandy valve actuator on the Jandy 3-port diverter
valve. The Jandy valve actuator must be adjusted
to provide the diverter positions shown in Figures 6
and 7 in conjunction with the solar controller.

marked as “B” on the template. Use CPVC cement
and glue the flange tail piece directly into the
standard tail piece on the heat pump inlet port. This
positions the heat pump.
