All international societies. Design The standard Stamford synchronous AC generator equipped with the superior PMG excitation system is available as totally enclosed with build-on water-cooler. Benefits of the totally enclosed water-cooled generator are: • • • • Reduced noise level – 10 dB(A) Less heat into the engine room, up to 4 % of the nominal power. Less air circulation in the engine room, smaller ventilation system needed. Closed generator, so no chemicals or dust into the generator and longer service / inspection intervals. Design: The standard Stamford synchronous AC generator equipped with the superior PMG excitation system and a centrifugal switch on the shaft closed during start- up and controlled by a power factor controller when running as a synchronous motor. Benefits of the system are that we can deliver a standard Stamford generator used for PTO operation and, with a small modification on the shaft (centrifugal-switch), can be used as an electro motor which will give extra power to the main propulsion system, but which also can start- up the propeller from zero to nominal speed depending on the added variable power of the auxiliary gen-sets.
