1-800-899-0553 assuredautomation.com S4 Series Multi-voltage Reversible Electric Actuator The S4 Series is a 1/4 turn multi-voltage electric valve actuator which incorporates the latest advances in motor and control technology at an economical price. S4 SERIES MODEL NUMBERING The S4 unit incorporates automatic voltage sensing and allows for AC or DC supply within each voltage range. The electronic torque limiter protects the actuator and the LED status lights allow for easier field diagnostics. The domed position indicator provides a visual indication of valve position. The DIN wiring connections allow the unit to be field wired without opening the actuator. LED Flashes with Two Blinks: If the actuator has been left in “manual” mode, the actuator’s motor runs but doesn’t drive the output shaft. After a preset time, the actuator knows that as the torque limiter has not activated and that the motor is running, it must be in manual. LED Flashes On/Off: When the actuator senses an inpending valve jam, the electronic torque limiter is activated, and on activation, repeatedly flashes the LED on and off. ACCESSORIES Electronic Positioner: The DPS is a microprocessor based electronic positioner that takes an analog input (4-20mADC or 0-10VDC) and provides an analog output (4-20mADC or 0-10VDC). The positioner is self-calibrating upon start up or after the valve is positioned manually. The DPS circuit is continuously monitoring the input and output signals and the physical position. Digital control insures high sensitivity and repeatability. The positioner can be installed in the field. Battery Failsafe: The BSR option is a battery “spring return” capability that allows the actuator to fail open or fail closed upon loss of power. This option is significantly smaller and cost competitive when compared to mechanical spring return electric actuators. The battery is constantly charging so it has maximum capacity when needed. It provides the power to close or open the valve a few times upon loss of power. If you plan to use the actuator to replace a solenoid; energize to open, fail close, you will have to allow a short period to charge the battery back to maximum power between cycles. A positioner can be installed with the BSR option. Optional DIN Connectors: DIN connectors are available with a 15’ cordset or with 1/2” NPT conduit entry. S42013.
