The complex systems of distributing
power in emergency cases are often
controlled by logics, with mechanical
devices for making & breaking,
conducting and isolating power.
On the other hand, the loads may need to
be transferred from one supply to another.
This is the case when the use of energy
is restricted, when the supplying source

processes, is more and more important
as the optimizing of costs for lack of
production and maintenance is crucial
for a successful business.
is overloaded or when maintenance is

Our solution for these installations
are change-over or transfer switches
with remote control by motor operator
or manual local operation. The range
consists of switches, mechanically
interlocked to each other, with electrical characteristics that allow an onload
switching between the two supplies.
The isolation of the primary and secondary circuits is assured by the positive contact opening function and the
reliable position indication.
The switches can also be built by using
available mechanism kits and standard
switch-disconnectors.
To meet the demands from different
markets the change-over switches are
tested according to IEC and UL and
certified by KEMA.

Tested according to IEC 60947-6
Utilization categories: AC-31 for non-inductive or slightly inductive load, AC-33
for motor loads or mixed loads including
motors.

The tests are performed for frequent,
suffix A, and infrequent, suffix B, operations. The endurance requirements for a
change-over application between two
power circuits under load is normally met
only by a lifetime fulfilling IEC 60947-6.

UPS applications
The closed transition transfer switch
is a “make before break” switch type
which guarantees a transfer of the supply without any interruption. The switch
is equipped with overlapping positions

The change-over switch is equipped with
three stable positions and is independent
of external supply, in operations there is
no risk of an unexpected opening of the
switch due to loss of supply voltage and
no supply voltage is necessary to keep
the switch in the closed position.
Two operation options
Manual operation: using a handle fixed directly onto the switch, to the panel board
or to the door of the panel board. This
type of operation extends the operation
time between the two supplies.
Motorised operation: no human participation is needed for the intervention,
and consequently the operation time
between the normal and the alternate
supply is short.

Modular change-over switches
The change-over switch carries out the
switching and the reliable isolation between
the primary network supply and the alternate supply, thus ensuring the continuity of
performance.
The modular change-over switch range
OT16...125 offers a most compact solution.
The space requirements for a change-over
switch is the same as for the switch-disconnectors next to each other. Only in depth it
needs 11 mm in addition.
It is easy to install: mounting onto 35 mm
DIN-rail and it’s suitable for 45 mm cut-outs
for consumer units.

The modular change-over switches can be built up by adding a compact snap-on kit on the top of
two switch-disconnectors. The kits do not require any additional foot print area, only the height is
increased 12 mm.

The connection of supplies to busbar
systems or the connection of the busbars to earth, ensuring safe power off,
is secured in the change-over switch by
the inbuilt mechanical interlocking and
position change via OFF-position. They
prevent that parallel connection of two
supplies could not occur, even in case
of transient voltages.

Transfer switch in ATSE
In Automatic Transfer Switching Equipments the emergency
power is automatically transferred to one or more load circuits
from one supply to another by a logic system controlling the
OEM transfer switch.
The switches are mechanically interlocked to prevent simoultaneous connection to both normal and alternative supplies and
the operator independent quick make/quick break mechanism
ensures distinct opening and closing of the contacts.
The range is endurance tested as transfer switch according to
IEC 60947-6 categories AC-31 and AC-33, both for frequent and
infrequent use, and is independent of which logic system is used
for the automatic control.

Continuous command
Impulse command
If two overlapping commands remain on the switch changes its
position between I and II continuously. This can be prevented by
mechanical or electrical interlocks in the control circuits.
If the switch is in O -, I- or II -position and two commands
are given at the same time, the switch changes its position in occasional order.

primary supply to back-up supply in equipment specially designed for the UL market, but also used on the IEC market.
The OETL-NFC range is UL 1008 Recognized for resistive load
up to 1200 A and for total load up to 630 A.
The corresponding IEC rating is up to 1600 A for the
OETL-NFC range.

Maintenance
bypass for UPS
The OESC range is a “make before break”
i.e. Closed Transition Transfer Switch type
that guarantees a transfer from the static
switch to the power line as manual bypass
switch and back again without any interruption.
This ensures equipment is powered, even
when maintenance work is carried out.
The OESC switches have double rated
neutral to withstand the thermal overload
from the harmonics, normally produced
by the UPS and added up in the neutral
conductor.
The range is UL 508 Recognized.

The standard range includes a black
handle and finger protected terminals. A large variation of front plates
for customized engraving enables
special cam switches.
