SECTION 3: FUNCTIONS
3.1 TEST MODE
1. Press POWER.
2. Check that operating handle is up and fixing knob is loose. Place
ink container on platform.
3. Press COLOR SELECTION to select color to be tested.
4. Pull down operating handle and insert testing rotor into ink
container. Testing rotor should be immersed to neck, just above
sphere.

5. Lock fixing knob to hold testing rotor in place. (Note: cycle will
not begin if fixing knob is not locked.)

6. Press START to begin cycle.
7. When cycle ends, LCD panel displays current reading.
8. To store new value, press RECORD. New value will overwrite old value.
9. Repeat test two or three times to ensure an accurate measurement.
10. After testing, release fixing knob, lift operating handle and remove ink container. Immerse rotor
into a container of ink thinner. Lock fixing knob and press START to clean rotor head.
Remove container and clean rotor head with cloth.

3.2 EDIT MODE
The "EDIT mode" includes four functions:
1. Calibration (P1)
2. Editing Colors (P1)
3. Choosing Units of Measurement (P3)
4. Exit (P4)
- To enter EDIT mode, press and hold START and press COLOR SELECTION.
- To switch between EDIT mode functions, press START.
- To exit EDIT mode, press START until EXIT (P4) appears, and press COLOR SELECTION.
3.2.1 Calibration (P1)
Calibrate the viscositor regularly to ensure accurate readings. Included with the viscositor is 200 mL
SHELL Helix Plua SAE 15W-50 calibration oil.
1. Release fixing knob. To enter EDIT mode, press and hold START and press COLOR
SELECTION. Monitor will display CALIBRATE function.
2. Pull down operating handle to immerse testing rotor in calibration oil. Lock fixing knob.
3. Press START to begin calibration cycle.
4. After cycle completes, press RECORD to save value, or COLOR SELECTION to exit without
saving.
5. Press START until EXIT function appears. Press COLOR SELECTION to exit EDIT mode.

3.2.2 Editing Colors (P2)
This mode allows you to switch color names.
1. In TEST mode, select color to change.
2. Release fixing knob. To enter EDIT mode, press and hold START and press COLOR
SELECTION.
3. Press START until EDIT COLOR function appears.
4. To select new color name, press COLOR SELECTION until desired color name appears.
5. Press START to save new color name and exit EDIT COLOR mode.
6. Press START until EXIT function appears. Press COLOR selection to exit EDIT mode.
7. New color appears in menu and data resets.

3.2.3 Choosing Units of Measurement (P3)
This mode allows you to choose between scientific units and KENT units.
1. Release fixing knob. To enter EDIT mode, press and hold START and press COLOR
SELECTION.
2. Press START until DISPLAY mode appears.
3. Press COLOR SELECTION to choose between KENT units and scientific units.
4. Press START to exit DISPLAY mode. Exit EDIT mode.
5. New units will appear in TEST mode.
Note: The KENT unit is defined in terms of revolutions per testing cycle. The lower the value, the
higher the viscosity of the ink. The scientific unit is the poise (P), a standard international unit for
viscosity. The higher the value, the higher the viscosity.
