Japan is a country like no other in the world. Lean principles permeate every aspect of daily life in
Japan. People who travel to Japan are fascinated and surprised by the fact that even places like gas
stations or shopping centers utilize Lean principles in creative ways. Japanese Industry is recognized all over the world as being the world leader in continuous improvement (kaizen). Japan has
earned a reputation around the world as a “Lean Specialist” building its economic power in manufacturing over the past decades.
We can probably find companies with good Lean practices in Europe or USA, but Lean practitioners will find that Japan is the only place that showcases Lean implementation in its purest
form. You will be able to see the current status of continuous improvement in its place of birth:
Toyota Production System (TPS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)…

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Through this tour, we bring you through a full immersion experience in Just-in-Time culture. It is a tour designed to
open your eyes, broaden your vision, and deepen your understanding of lean principles, systems and tools,
ultimately transforming attitudes about what is possible through continuous improvement.
This programme includes lectures from leading experts in Kaizen and TPM, and visits to world leading organizations
in manufacturing and process industry.
Also includes a Workshop with Takashi Harada founder of “The Harada Method”, known as The Best Method in day
to day Management for JMA (Japanese Management Association), and Norman Bodek, known as “The Godfather
of Lean”

The Study Mission will start on Sunday, 19th of October in Tokyo, Royal Park Hotel Shiodome, so the arrival to Tokyo
must be on Saturday, 18th of October (We will inform you about the different schedules for your different locations.
The plane tickets are not included in the price of the Study Mission, but we can offer you different specialized travel
agencies that will help you with the flights combination at a good value)

Morning - Visit to Sango (Toyota subcontractor) and Mirai (has a wonderful suggestion system)
Afternoon- Bullet train to Kokura Station, hotel in Kitakyushu, Kyushu
WEDNESDAY 22TH
Visit to Lexus and Hoks . Development and production of computer, Medical equipment, Hardware and Mechatronics. Stay in Beppu Shuginoi Hotel with nice hot spring.

Morning -Visit to Canon Ohita, Canon Training Center. The Canon Oita Factory in Oita, Japan is Canon´s main digital
imaging product plant and manufactures products as the Powershot, IXUS compacts, DARL, Cameras and Camcorders. Since 1999, the factory has moved from assembly line productions to cell based production, with teams of up
to 20 workers. Each cell can assemble 500 camcorders in an eight hour shift.
Afternoon- fly to Osaka and Stay at the Lihga Hotel in Kyoto
FRIDAY 24TH
Workshops with Mr. Harada and hopefully visit one of his clients and view the implementation of "The Harada
Method"
SATURDAY 25TH
Return or stay an extra day in Kyoto (extra cost of 500 euros) including hotel and sightseeing

Conditions and Allowances
Participation fee does not include airfare, travel insurance or hotel personal expenses. Participants are required to be in the hotel lobby
by 7pm, Sunday, 18 October. Tour content descriptions based on previous tours. 2014 tour actual content may vary.
Schedule subject to change without notice. Photo and video imagery from Tours may be used by ADUM for marketing purposes.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Registration of a completed Form indicates the participant’s intention to take part in the Tour. Once this
intention has been notified to ADUM, the participant’s booking must be secured by full payment of the fee to ADUM within 14 days.
Any participant may cancel their booking without penalty prior to 15 September 2014. Any booking cancellation between 16 September 2014 and 23 September 2014 will forfeit 50% of the fee. Any cancellation after 23 September 2014 will entirely forfeit the fee. The
transfer of registration by participants within the same company is permitted. ADUM reserves the
right to cancel the tour on or before Friday, 15 September 2014. ADUM asks participants to refrain from purchasing their airfare or
travel insurance prior to this date unless given earlier confirmation by ADUM. ADUM will take no responsibility for the refund of airfares
or travel insurance.
