Orange Charter Families,
Happy (Belated) New Year!
I hope that the recent Winter Break provided your family with the rest, relaxation, and time for togetherness that it needed.
We've reached the midpoint of the academic year, an ideal time to celebrate successes while looking ahead to the opportunities that
the new year holds.
2nd quarter report cards will arrive home by next Friday, January 23rd. Please reflect with your child on their accomplishments from
the past term while setting at least one major goal for improvement, whether this be with grades, class participation, study
skills/organization, or beyond…..
Here are some key reminders to help us kick off 2015:
1-Thursday, February 26th has been converted to a regular student day to make up for the weather-related cancellation on
Wednesday, January 14th.
2-Planning for the 2015-2016 School Year is already well underway. Please help us remind your friends, co-workers, and neighbors
that we are accepting new student applications until Friday, February 13th. Meanwhile, all current families must submit an Intent to
Return Form to maintain their spot(s) for next year. Contact the main office or visit the Admissions page of our school website for
forms and more info.
3-Parent involvement, in its many forms, is a cornerstone to our school’s success. Join us for a PATH-sponsored Community Potluck
on Thursday, January 15th starting at 6:30 PM to enjoy delicious food & great company and to learn about the many parent
volunteer opportunities available this Spring!
TOGETHER, we are going to make 2015 an exceptional year at Orange Charter School!

OCS COMMUNITY POTLUCK & BOOK-SWAP
Join us for a fun community meal, conversation and book swap! Bring a dish to share and books to offer - go home with a full belly and
someone else's book to read! OCS PATH will present on our exciting plans for Spring 2015! We are working on providing childcare to
enable the kids to play while interested adults engage to make OCS even more amazing!

Letter of Intent
All families should have received a letter of intent for the 2015-16 school year. The completed letters are due in the office no later
than January 30. If you haven’t received a letter please contact Ms. Tracey.
Sibling applications are due January 30 as well.
Bake Sale Every Thursday! All items are .50 - $1.00
All proceeds will go toward the Eighth Grade field trip
Interested in High School?
There will be a joint meeting with parents from the Expedition School to discuss the possibility of expanding OCS to 12th grade or
working together to form a new charter high school. We would like to have parents attend this meeting so that we can hear what
qualities in a high school would be important to you and to get a sense of how many families would seriously be interested in pursuing
this option.
The meeting will be Wednesday 1/21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Orange Charter School Cafeteria.
