Certified quality standard for VEM
Innovative product developments coupled with a high manufacturing penetration ensure we can flexibly
satisfy customer-specific requirements. Quality technology and qualified, experienced employees guarantee
that each and every test procedure complies with the relevant standards. Our company is certified to DIN
EN ISO 9001 and is very well versed in the test requirements of diverse approval organisations both at home
and abroad (e.g.Germanischer Lloyd, Det Norske Veritas, Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, Bureau Veritas,
IBexU, TÜV Nord, Deutsche Bahn).
[vem group 02]
Accordingly, VEM Sachsenwerk’s large machine test bay meets all the criteria required to demonstrate
quality and technical parameters. With an electrical test bay capability to 6 MW, it ranks among the most
modern plants of its type.
And will allow us to better respond to your user requirements in the future. For the most part, medium-sized
electric machines are tested with full load.
Upon request, customers can attend the test bay inspection and conduct the machine acceptance pro-cedure alongside our specialist personnel. During the tests, you get the chance to judge the function and
performance of our products for yourself.
In addition to the special tests on electric machines, we perform customised tests and trials and inspections
on other machine brands. We do of course also offer special test procedures, which we like to agree with our
customers individually.

Technical specifications
Working load limits
 The working load is applied by two converter-fed asynchronous machine in tandem design
with a total capacity of 6.3 MW
 two speed ranges can be realised via a gearbox:
0 - 900 rpm and 0 -2000 rpm
 The maximum permanent test capability of 6 MW can be achieved with a further speed range
from 430 rpm to 2000 rpm
 Testing of 4-pole to 14-pole machines with 6 MW (5 MW at 60 Hz)
 The maximum torque is 120 kNm
 The maximum shaft centre height for load tests is approx. 1500 mm
 With greater shaft centre heights, the tests are conducted in large machine test bay 1
Test capability - working load limits as a factor of speed
Comment:
 All specifications apply for S1 operation
 At frequencies < 50 Hz, the voltage and hence the maximum possible capacity drops
 Load tests are possible only in horizontal setup
