India is the fifth mineral resource rich country in the world that forms the backbone of our industries and economy; they are also the pillars to modern civilization.Explosive growth of population, rapid urbanisation and industrialisation have put immense pressure on these resources. The non-renewable mineral is wealthiest, now, threatened by over-exploitation and unsustained development projects. We, therefore have to prepare a set of comprehensive, well-balanced and informative guidelines, focusing on various measures for their sustainable exploitation, balancing with natural environment and ecological security. Beside these, the management of water resources is also one of the most challenging problem being faced today by the organizations dealing with groundwater. Keeping the above facts in view, the Department of Geology is going to organise the National Conference on "Recent Advancements in Mineral and Water Resources". We hope that the deliberations, suggestions and recommendation of the conference will be useful to academicians, research Scholars, industrialists, policy makers, stake holders etc. Sub-Themes of Conference: Metallic Minerals- occurrence, genesis, distribution and uses.
