First National Conference on Recent Advances in Civil
Engineering (RACE 2016) 19-20 March 2016
Institution of Engineers (India) Civil Engineering Student Chapter at Jaypee University Anoopshahr
organized a conference titled, First National Conference on Recent Advances in Civil Engineering
(RACE 2016) during 19-20 March 2016. A total of 30 papers were presented in the areas of
sustainable development, disaster mitigation, concrete technology and rock engineering. The
conference lecture was delivered by Prof. J.T. Shahu of IIT Delhi. Prof. Shahu presented a case
history of failure of an embankment. He said that each and every part of a civil engineering structure
should be carefully designed and constructed with latest technology. He emphasized the need for
post construction performance monitoring. The conference attracted over 100 participants including
80 students.
