Scope
This specification covers the requirement for outdoor, pole mounted High Pressure Sodium (HPS) street lighting luminaires with ballast and photo-control mounted in the main head of the fixture. For 100, 150, and 400 watt sizes.

Quality Assurance
The Qulliq Energy Corporation reserves the right to appoint an independent inspector to verify the manufacturer’s quality assurance program.
Technical Requirements
1.
Operating temperature range shall be from 40°C to -50°C
2.
The normal supply voltage will be 120 Volts at 60 Hertz.
3.
The ballast shall be moisture resistant and be of the constant wattage autotransformer type.
4.
The starting circuit (i.e. capacitor, socket, starter, etc) shall be rated for indefinite operation with the lamp burnt out (i.e. open circuit mode) without sustaining damage to any component of the fixture.
5.
The fixture should not exceed 24 kg in overall weight.
6.
Each fixture shall contain a terminal block to connect #12 AWG copper supply leads.
7.
The unit shall contain a photoelectric mounting receptacle for a twist lock photo lighting controller.
8.
The manufacturer’s nameplate shall be mounted on the inside of the main body of the fixture and shall contain the following information:

Manufacturer’s name

Catalogue/Model Number
•
Date (year and Month) of Manufacture
•
Rated Lamp Wattage
•
Fixture rated KVA
9.
The lamp supplied with the unit shall have a burn rate of at least 24,000 hours having a on and off schedule of 12 hours.

Photo Electric Lighting Controller Relay
The relay shall be hermetically sealed in a glass and stainless steel or other approved method meeting requirements of MIL-standard 202F.
The relay shall have a standard surge protector built into the unit.
The controller shall turn on/off instantaneously during daytime glove test situations.
The operational level shall be on at 11 lux and off at 33 lux.
The controller shall be rated for an ambient temperature from 40°C to -50°C.
The minimum load rating of the controller shall be 1.8 KVA of H.I.D. type lighting with a minimum life span of
5000 operations.
Shipping & Storage Requirements
Each pallet load of luminaires shall be stretch wrapped, and packaged in a cardboard carton and stacked on a wooden pallet suitable for lifting by forklift. The carton shall also be strong enough to ensure safety and security of items for sealift operations. Containers holding each fixture shall be marked with the wattage rating of the unit, the model number, and Manufacturer’s Name.
