What the LOPO program means to Japan Nov. 21, 2014 Danish Welfare system in general is known in all over Japan as an advanced system and the Naestved’s LOPO program is the most used program in Japan for helping the Japanese healthcare professionals to improve their way to give the services. We know from participants of the Naestved’s LOPO program such as care workers, nurses, directors, decision makers and other administrative staffs in Japan that they felt the difference of how Danish care worker are closer to the elderly and the disable; how “dignity” and “independence” are an important part of the welfare system. These principles are of great importance for the Japanese participants to see by their own eyes and hear by their own ears. In this way, they get the encouragement to implement the way services are given in Naestved to their actual work in Japan. The good thing of the Naestved’s LOPO program is that the lectures are given by the people who actually do that job as occupation. Therefore even matters that can be complicated become easy to answer, which is very helpful to the participants. The Naestved’s LOPO program has improved and still does improve the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the health professionals as well as the care processes in Japan. Thank you very much.
