Over the past ten years, there has been a significant trend towards providing a more
sustainable transport infrastructure. This has been driven by work being carried out
by charity organisations such as Sustrans and independent bodies such as Cycling
England. Both are committed to promoting sustainable travel, in particular cycling,
to our places of work and schools.
One initiative promoting cycling across the UK is the National Cycle Network which
operates over 230 million journeys each year, taking people to work and kids to
school. In addition to this, there are other schemes such as ‘Bike It’ and ‘Safe Routes

Sustrans is one of the UK’s leading sustainable transport charities, with the aim of
reducing the environmental impact of transport and enabling people to choose
active travel to benefit their health.
A key element in encouraging more people to adopt sustainable travel
methods, such as cycling, is the provision of adequate facilities within our public
spaces and schools. This incorporates ongoing development of a high quality
cycling infrastructure, prioritising route design and selection, signage and cycle
parking facilities.

The range of Ollerton cycle stands provides cyclists with an ideal solution to safely
secure and store bicycles whilst not in use. A wide variety of stands is available
in steel and stainless steel, with a selection of styles offered to complement any
landscape.
Ollerton steel cycle stands are hot dip galvanised, giving excellent weathering
qualities, and can be powder coated in a full range of standard RAL colours.
Stainless steel cycle stands are manufactured from grade 316L stainless steel,
meaning that they offer excellent corrosion resistance and require very little
maintenance to retain their original contemporary appearance.

Steel Scooter Racks
Marshalls offer a range of scooter racks which are ideal for primary schools. The racks
enable children to lock up their scooters during the school day.
By providing secure storage, schools can encourage sustainable travel amongst its
pupils. This encourages them, from an early age, to lead an active lifestyle which
provides them with health benefits and can improve their physical development.
Our range includes the SSR/10 which is a single-sided scooter rack capable of
accommodating up to ten scooters. Two double-sided racks are available, DSR/10
and DSR/20.
All racks are steel welded 50mm diameter tubular construction and are zinc rich
primed and polyester powder coated as standard. Scooters are supported by 6mm
thick plates and made secure with a 13mm diameter steel pin. The pin is drilled
at one end to accept a padlock and is attached to the rack via a heavy duty chain.
Padlocks are not supplied, however a long shank padlock is recommended.

Design and installation support
With our designers not only can we design your cycle storage but the hard landscape
environment around to ensure the right space is used, access to and from the storage
area is uncompleted and unrestricted, your project is BREEAM compliant, but most of
all it is fit for purpose. Finally, to ensure your project is completed on time we also
install cycle units.
Marshalls understands this and is able to help and support you however much or little

Warranty
To ensure your cycle storage unit is fit for purpose, all our steel framed shelters come in
any RAL colour you choose and are powder coated with the Akzo Nobel Cromadex
Extra Life System giving a 10 year warranty. Additionally, all shelters come with a PET
UV stable cladding option, manufactured to your bespoke requirements, if required.

Bankside Bikeshed™ Cycle Shelter, London School of Economics
The Bankside Bikeshed was conceived by Architect, Martin Ebert from Studio Meda.
As part of a competition to design a cycle shelter run by Better Bankside, a business
improvement district in London, the Bankside Bike Shed was nominated the winner.
It is manufactured from structural mild steel, which is galvanised. The roof panels are
also in steel.
The Bankside Bikeshed is extremely minimal in design, to ensure that it blends
well within the landscape. The minimal design also makes it extremely economical
per cycle space. The design also lends itself to being suited for many different
landscapes, as it uses up little space and is very simple to install.
Advertising or branding panels are also available.

Using a variety of our cycle shelters in conjunction with one another allows you to
create a bespoke cycle compound. The size and capacity will depend entirely on the
space you have available. Our Technical team can develop concepts based on your
requirements and budget.
The illustrations on the following pages show some examples of bespoke
compounds and how different shelters can be combined. Velozone compounds can
be fitted with a linking roof to totally enclose the compound, or a J Series shelter

Enviro Shelter with R10 Cycle Rack
Enviro Shelter is a stylish timber structure which can be used as a cycle or waiting
shelter. Standard dimensions are 2.9m high, 4.2m long and 2m wide. Extensions are
available in 4m modules.
The shelter is supplied in five sections: four fully assembled side panels and
one fully assembled roof, together with assembly instructions and a fixing kit.
The shelter can be supplied with internal 5mm transparent PET cladding to
provide total weather protection. Enviro Shelter also comes complete with
integral drainage.
Enviro Shelter is manufactured from vacuum pressure-treated timber and the roof is
covered in cedar shingle tiles. Vertical timber sections have pencil rounded corners
for added safety. All timber used is from sustainable sources.
An R10 cycle rack can be added to create a shelter with a ten cycle capacity.

eXtreme™ Cycle Lockers
eXtreme™ plastic lockers are ideal for use in conjunction with our range of cycle
shelters. Very popular with schools, the lockers can be positioned externally, are
hygienic and highly vandal resistant. The hinges have been tested to withstand
3200N of force before breaking. They are also weather resistant, which means they
can be stacked outdoors in damp and cold environments without fear of rust and
can be cleaned with a high pressure hose.
Three sizes are available 450, 600, and 900mm high, all with a base size of 320 x
460mm wide. Lockers are manufactured from tough polyethylene and come in grey
with a choice of blue, red, yellow or green doors. Lockers feature a label position and
air vents.
They can be easily stacked and fixed together using the pre-drilled fixing points.
Three types of lock are available: Camlock c/w 2 keys, Swivel Catch, suitable for
padlock (padlock not included) and Coin Return c/w 2 keys. A sloping top is also
available to prevent litter being placed on top of the lockers.

BykeBin™
BykeBin Cycle Lockers
The BykeBin cycle locker is an excellent solution to providing secure cycle parking. Its
unique design allows it to be used in multiple configurations as shown in the
illustration on the next page. Up to six BykeBins can be installed in the same space as
one car parking bay.
The BykeBin has a robust construction and is manufactured from rigid polyethylene.
Each product is manufactured using some recycled plastic content. The percentage of
recycled content depends on which colour is chosen. For example black products are
made from 100% recycled material, the lighter your chosen colour the less recycled
material is used in its manufacture.
Polyethylene is UV stable, easy to clean and requires minimal maintenance as it will not
rust or corrode. Any graffiti or staining can be removed easily using an appropriate
cleaning solution.
The BykeBin is available in 12 colours which can be found in the swatches below.

Products are supplied with padlock, four ground fixing bolts and incorporate a
built-in cycle security fixing bracket. This allows the cycle to be secured inside the
cycle locker for added security.
The door also features two hooks for hanging personal possessions. All fixings and
metalwork supplied are manufactured from stainless steel. The hinge system is one
solid bar, which means it can’t be jemmied open.
A padlock cover bracket is available as an optional extra. Fixing holes are pre-drilled
for ease of installation.
