Principle
MACOPRESS Smart (MPS) is an automate intended for the separation of a whole blood unit into
blood components. It is compatible with all blood bags currently available. The MPS can operate
as an independent unit or it can be connected to a distant computer and supervised by the
DMS+ Data Management System.

The REVO Innovation
Unique system of three universal cannula breakers * including in-process
red cell mixing
All opening and mixing functions are fully programmable and controlled by the MACOPRESS Smart
program. Manual cannula breaking is time consuming and can cause RSI** and haemolysis. Our
system has proven to be effective, reduces time and generates reproducibility and standardisation.
REVO comprises the following modules:
• Integrated automatic cannula breaker for the main bag.

solution.

• Automatic cannula breaker and red cell mixer. External unit
connected to the MACOPRESS Smart able to break standard
single and double cannula while mixing the red cell with

Press System
• Main and Lateral press with electronic
motion controlled with a dedicated microprocessor (no requirement for compressed
air).
• Lateral press designed for high yield of
plasma and air extraction.
Controlled press parameter: speed, pressure,
sensor and position.
Eight optical sensors for detecting and
maintaining the BC (buffy-coat) layer.
Two additional sensors on top, all with fully
adjustable sensitivity.
Synchronous separation of T&B (Top & Bottom)
bag systems.
Flexibility
• Memory up to 50 programs.
• 5 different user levels with access control.
• Up to 5 integrated scales recording weights of all blood components, including whole blood.
• Five programmable sealing clamps for automatic or manual operation; can also be used as
separate sealers.
DMS+ Data Management System
MACOPRESS Smart provides full and intuitive data management.
Separation programs can be customized directly from the tools menu. DMS+ enables the separator
to be managed online and offers complete bi-directional process functionality. Computer
connection can be with:
• WiFi • ETHERNET • RS
485 (max 4 devices connected)
DMS+ provides the following features:
• Different preloaded languages
• Compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7.
• Able to set all the machines at the same time or one by one
• 30 barcodes/separation and filter mask for cross-matching and data control
• Automatic Bidirectional controls.
The program will be automatically chosen for each ID by comparing the data arriving from the
external sources (balances, cells counter) with those selected through an applicable filters mask
for parameters such as whole blood weights, donation time and/or cell counter data as PLTS, Hct, RBC...
• For example:
i. donation < 12 minutes, weight 450 ml +/- 10%, Hct > 40, PLTS > 180.000 OK = run PRG1
ii. donation > 12 minutes OK = run PRG2
iii. PLTS < 180.000 OK = run PRG3 …
Traceability
21 parameters can be transmitted from MACOPRESS Smart to DMS+ for each separation. These
fields can be fully managed by DMS+: Activation, modification of the sequence, saving route,
formatting for any interfacing to management software that already exists.
The data transmitted for each separation are:
• Serial number of the MACOPRESS Smart
• Description of the program
• Net weight of each blood component, including whole blood
• Date and time of separation; duration of the separation
• Error code
• Operator code ID1, ID2, ID3, ID4, parameters of centrifugation or barcode and classification of
the result obtained...
