JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Vice President, Brand Management CLASSIFICATION: REPORTS TO: LOCATION: EXEMPT SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, BRAND MANAGEMENT SAN DIEGO POSITION OVERVIEW: As Vice President (VP) you have the privilege to lead the health and development of the entire Agency’s Brand Partner portfolio. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Brand Partner Management The VP position mandates the ability to envision and drive the Agency’s strategic relationship with key Brand Partner contacts with support from the Brand Directors. • Strategically establish multiple Brand Partner relationships at the highest level, ensuring the Agency is represented appropriately and sits at the top table • Become an irreplaceable brand and business partner and trusted advisor • Bring value to their business through an unwavering commitment to success, outstanding team performance and the ability to lead ground-breaking ideas and drive creative solutions • Provide expert knowledge of, and be conversant in, each Brand Partners’ business – their key issues, competitive situation and industry trends • Take responsibility for the overall standard of communication between Agency and the Brand Partner portfolio • Anticipate and be acutely aware of potential relationships or external threats that might jeopardize the Agency’s position, advising the SVP, Brand Management in time for the Agency to act proactively • Autonomously develop an annual Brand Partner Development Plan and initiate ongoing organic business development Leadership and Teamwork The VP position requires the ability to successfully focus the efforts of Agency teams and personnel so that campaigns and projects are completed as proposed – on time, within budget and with a minimum of disruption to daily activity of Brand Partner or Agency. • Outline expectations of, and communicate effectively with, Agency Partners, and Senior Management team • Drive investment in, and commitment effectively with, the Agency/Brand Partner “team” to develop and support a positive mindset about the work, the Brand Partner and the Agency staff • Ensure rapport and trust with all staff members – acknowledging the expectations of and on others, identifying team and project needs, remaining open to considering multiple points-of-view • Encourage and demonstrate unity behind team and Agency decision-making • Take responsibility for timely performance reviews, professional development and mentorship Creative The VP position requires the ability to think strategically about all product developed by the Agency teams and be an Agency ambassador, showcasing the creative work and communications expertise. • Be relentless in the pursuit of an outstanding creative product and instill in your teams to support the creative philosophy of the Agency • Mentor team on how to make considered and persuasive strategic and creative recommendations • Challenge the work with thoughtful questions and display vision beyond the Agency walls to properly prepare team members to present and sell successfully Strategy As the VP, you are required to employ a range of thinking and decision-making skills – “what if”, “critical” and “judicious” approaches to Brand Partner issues and initiatives. • Demand curiosity and a willingness to push your own thinking and the Agency’s work in new directions • Work with the Consumer Behavior department to clearly establish objectives, priorities and KPI’s for Brand Partner initiatives • Provide innovative thinking in all areas of a Brand Partner’s business, as well as critical thinking related to internal Agency functions Content and Integration The VP must demonstrate an ability to direct workload and workflow through all Agency departments via his/her teams. Act as a leader and strategist in integrating marketing channels, strategies and tactics into cohesive Brand Partner facing recommendations and plans. • Work with the SVP/Brand to establish clear objectives and priorities for accounts and all Brand Management • Demand thorough, accurate and consistent work to Brand Partners reflective of the Agency’s quality standards and nine (9) internal disciplines • Be proficient in, and be able to mentor personnel regarding, Keynote, Word, Excel, and verbal, in person and email communication Finance • Work with the SVP/Brand to drive organic growth across the entire Agency portfolio by developing and selling Agency services and products • Work with the SVP/Brand to provide effective and efficient oversight of Agency resources to ensure projects are delivered as promised in terms of time, budgets and results • Oversee the Brand Directors to provide timely account forecasts, budgets and projections BEHAVIORS & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Communication The VP must be able to write, speak, and present clearly and persuasively. • Provide clear, thorough written direction to staff • Deliver concise, accurate and actionable accounts of meetings and discussions • Develop persuasive summary and recommendation documents for presentation to senior Brand Partner and Agency decision-makers • Set the framework and strategy to project and/or annual Brand Partner planning documents • Develop and demonstrate a clear, comfortable, persuasive presentation style for both formal and informal settings • Be well-rehearsed and prepared for the unexpected • Ability to demonstrate Company values: o Creativity o Courage o Vision o Dedication o Accountability QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION: • • • • • • • • • Bachelor’s Degree required. Marketing or advertising major preferred 12+ years of integrated (multi-discipline) advertising Agency experience Thought-leader and visionary Solution oriented, professional and personable Solid vendor relations and experience interfacing with Brand Partners Ability to manage and mentor senior teams Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort in presenting to groups Demonstrated, deep understanding of Brand Partner relationship and project management Thorough understanding of Agency process and procedures
