Hittite Microwave is pleased to announce our acquisition of the Velocium Products
advanced GaAs MMIC product line from Northrop Grumman. Velocium Products
is a leader in high speed MMICs for established and emerging microwave and millimeterwave markets. The acquisition expands Hittite’s product offering for automotive
radar, long & short haul communications, fiber optics, test equipment, radar imaging,
space, military and other high performance electronic systems from DC to 86 GHz.

Under the agreement, Hittite has assumed the related customer contracts and has
become the worldwide supplier for a specified list of standard Hittite-Velocium products.
Hittite will use Northrop Grumman as a foundry supplier for Gallium Arsenide (GaAs)
wafers used in the licensed products. As a strategic partner, Hittite will also have preferred
access to Northrop Grumman’s advanced semiconductor process technology for new
Hittite products. See pages 4 and 5 for a complete summary of the newly acquired
products.

The HMC630LP3E and HMC631LP3E high dynamic range
Vector Modulator RFICs are rated from 700 to 1000 MHz and from 800 to 2700 MHz,
respectively. They are targeted for distortion cancellation applications such as RF
pre-distortion and feed-forward, as well as RF cancellation, beam forming, and
amplitude/phase correction applications. The I & Q ports of the HMC630LP3E and
HMC631LP3E can be used to continuously vary the phase and amplitude of a modulated
RF signal by up to 360 degrees and 40 dB respectively, while supporting a 3 dB modulation bandwidth of up to 180 MHz. Each of these versatile RFICs can also be used as

The HMC-C048 is a GaAs MMIC
PHEMT Low Noise Amplifier in a
miniature, hermetic module which
operates between 5 and 9 GHz.
This high dynamic range low noise
amplifier module provides 24 dB of
gain and up to +25 dBm of output IP3
while operating from a single positive
supply between +8V and +16V. The
amplifier I/Os are internally matched
to 50 Ohms and DC blocked for robust
performance and the module features
removable coaxial connectors and an
integrated voltage regulator.

The HMC619 and HMC619LP5E
are GaAs MMIC PHEMT Distributed
Power Amplifiers which operate
between DC and 10 GHz. The amplifiers provide 12 dB of gain, +37 dBm
output IP3 and +28 dBm of output
power at 1 dB gain compression
while requiring 300 mA from a +12V
supply. Gain flatness is excellent at
±0.7 dB from DC to 8 GHz making the
HMC619 and HMC619LP5E ideal for
EW, ECM, Radar and test equipment
applications. The HMC619LP5E is
housed in a RoHS compliant 5x5mm

Flexible Control Interface
The HMC624LP4E is a broadband
6-bit GaAs IC Digital Attenuator in a
4x4mm leadless QFN package which
is suitable for a wide variety of RF &
IF applications. The dual mode control
interface is CMOS/TTL compatible,
and accepts either a three wire serial
input or a 6 bit parallel word. The
HMC624LP4E also features a user
selectable power up state and a serial
output port for cascading other Hittite

The HMC557 and HMC557LC4 are
passive double balanced mixers
that can be used as upconverters or
downconverters between 2.5 and 7
GHz. The miniature monolithic mixer
is fabricated in a GaAs MESFET
process, and requires no external
components or matching circuitry. The
HMC557 and HMC557LC4 operate
with LO drive levels as low as +9 dBm
and provide excellent LO to RF and
LO to IF isolation due to optimized
balun structures. The HMC557LC4 is

The HMC-C047 is a passive I/Q MMIC
mixer housed in a miniature hermetic
module which can be used as either
an Image Reject Mixer (IRM) or a
Single Sideband Upconverter. The
module utilizes two standard Hittite
double balanced mixer cells and a
90 degree hybrid fabricated on a
GaAs MESFET process. This MMIC
based module is a more reliable and
consistent alternative to hybrid style
I/Q Mixers and Single Sideband
Converter assemblies.

HMC650 and HMC651 are
through-line products with 0 dB
of attenuation (0.15 dB typical
insertion loss) and lengths of 20
(0.51) and 26 (0.66) mils (mm)
respectively, allowing designers
the freedom to mechanically interchange 0 dB attenuation
pads with any other pad in the hybrid design.
Designed to handle up to +27 dBm of RF input power, and
specified for operation over the -55 to +85C temperature
range, these passive through-lines and attenuators are
backside metallized with gold, and are suitable for eutectic or
epoxy die attach in microstrip, hybrid and multi-chip module
applications where extremely flat attenuation and excellent
VSWR versus frequency are required. These devices also
feature low inductance on-chip vias, and require no additional
ground connections.
The HMC650 through HMC658 may be purchased
individually by their respective part number, or they can be
ordered as part of the HMC-DK006 Passive Attenuator Chip
Designer’s Kit. Die product samples and Designer’s Kits are

The HMC630LP3E and HMC631LP3E Vector Modulator
RFICs exhibit +34 dBm of input IP3 and an output noise floor
of -160 dBm/Hz, which remains constant across the entire
gain and phase control ranges.
The HMC630LP3E and HMC631LP3E Vector Modulators
are more compact and more consistent alternatives to hybrid

The HMC630LP3E and HMC631LP3E are housed in pin
compatible, RoHS compliant 3x3 mm QFN leadless SMT
packages and require no external matching components.
Both Vector Modulator RFICs operate from a single supply of
+8V consuming less than 95 mA.
These new Vector Modulators complement the previously
released HMC500LP3E, GaAs HBT Vector Modulator
which is rated from 1800 - 2200 MHz. The HMC500LP3E,
HMC630LP3E and HMC631LP3E are available from stock
and can be ordered via the company’s e-commerce site or
via direct purchase order. Released data sheets are

HMC174MS8E is once again
available for immediate delivery.
The HMC174MS8E is a low-cost
SPDT switch in a 8-lead MSOP
package for use in transmit-receive applications which
require very low distortion at high signal power levels.
The device can control signals from DC to 3 GHz and
is especially suited for cellular/3G and WiMAX/4G
applications with only 0.5 dB loss and up to +39 dBm
P1dB. The design provides exceptional intermodulation performance, providing a +60 dBm third order
intercept at +8 Volt bias. Control inputs are compatible
with CMOS and most TTL logic families.
