THE OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE!
All Vaillancourt doors and windows are guaranteed against
material or manufacturing defects, a warranty that has been
effective on all products manufactured since April 20, 2009.
However, the previous warranty continues to apply to products
manufactured prior to this date.
A. 1 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
The seller guarantees its products and labour for a period of 1 year from the
delivery date, against any defect affecting or arising from the materials and/
or the manufacturing process, provided the products sold are used strictly
for their intended purposes. Spontaneous breaking of the glass (thermal
break) in the sealed unit is guaranteed for 1 year; there must not have
been any point of impact. Under this warranty, the seller shall be obliged to
repair or replace any product or part of a product that the seller shall deem
defective with similar products or parts, provided that such problems result
directly from the manufacturing or the quality of materials used, and that
they appeared during the above-mentioned warranty period.
Upon expiry of the above-mentioned 1-year warranty, labour, delivery,
installation and other costs shall no longer be covered under the warranty.
Only the warranties stated below for each component shall apply, according
to the following conditions.
B. 10 OR 20 YEARS LIMITED WARRANTY
(NON-CUMULATIVE) ON PVC AND ALUMINIUM EXTRUSIONS
Vaillancourt hybrid aluminium and PVC windows :
20 years against rot, rust, cracking, warping, corrosion or other damage,
on condition windows are used, handled and stored under normal and
non-abusive conditions.
10 years against non-uniform discolouration (not more than 5 delta
units), on condition windows are uniformly exposed to the sun and
the elements.
Vaillancourt colour PVC windows :
20 years against rot, rust, cracking, warping, corrosion or other damage,
on condition windows are used, handled and stored under normal
and non-abusive conditions.
10 years against non-uniform discolouration (not more than 5 delta
units), on condition windows are uniformly exposed to the sun and
the elements.
Vaillancourt white PVC windows :
20 years against rot, rust, cracking, warping, corrosion or other damage.
20 years against non-uniform discolouration, on condition windows
are uniformly exposed to the sun and the elements.
Extrusions painted by the manufacturer: 10 years against non-uniform
discolouration (not more than 5 delta units), on condition windows are
uniformly exposed to the sun and the elements.
C. 10 OR 20 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
(NON-CUMULATIVE) ON SEALED UNITS
Our sealed window units are guaranteed for 10 years (clear glass) and 20
years (low-emission glass) from the delivery date. Stained glass windows in
steel doors and sealed sliding door units are guaranteed for 10 years. The
warranty covers the formation of a film or a layer of dust on the interior
surfaces of the sealed window unit, caused by a leak in the seal as opposed
to a break in the glass, which visibly obstructs the view (at 1 metre away
from the observer). Spontaneous breaking of the glass (thermal break) in
the sealed unit is not covered by this warranty. The noise produced by the
aluminium grilles inside a sealed door or window unit due to vibrations
in the surrounding environment or other causes (for example, the door
slamming) is not considered to be a manufacturing defect.
During the first 12 months of the warranty, the seller will replace and
install the defective panel (or will have it installed at its expense). During
the remaining years, the seller will replace the sealed unit at no charge,
however, installation and delivery costs will be at the customer’s expense
and payable prior to installation and/or delivery.
D. 5 OR 10 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
(NON-CUMULATIVE) ON STEEL DOORS
Steel doors are guaranteed for 5 years (24-gauge with white primer
and wood trim) and 10 years (24-gauge with white paint and PVC trim)
from the date of delivery against material defects (corrosion, chalking,
swelling, major discoloration) and manufacturing defects. Door sweeps
and galvanized steel hinges are guaranteed for 1 year. A lifetime warranty
applies to ball-bearing (solid brass) and stainless steel hinges. Any damage
to the door, such as apparent dents or scratches, which may have occurred
during delivery, must be reported within 48 hours of delivery, failing which
the guarantee will be non-applicable.
Defects caused by improper installation, lack of maintenance, excessive
humidity, forced entry, or other similar defects, are not covered by this
warranty. This warranty is limited to steel doors and does not cover damage
caused by the customer installing accessories such as a storm door, door
handle, door closer, mailbox, peephole, etc. Polypropylene door mouldings
that are painted, even by the seller, are not covered by the warranty. Warping
of the door of 1/4 in. or less does not constitute a defect under this warranty.
E. LIMITED WARRANTY ON HARDWARE
AND OTHER COMPONENTS
TRUTH hardware used in the assembly of casement and awning windows,
as well as balance systems for hung windows, are guaranteed for 10 years
against material and manufacturing defects. A lifetime warranty applies
only to the moving parts and the polished brass finish on KWIKSET
door handles used in the assembly of steel doors. Other finishes are
guaranteed for 5 years.
The warranty on our hardware and metal parts does not apply
to discoloration of the finish, normal wear and tear, forced
entry, rust or oxidation due to the use of any type of solvent,

intended purposes.

The parties acknowledge that no agent, employee or representative
of the seller shall have the authority to modify this warranty and,
as such, any representations made by any such agent, employee or
representative of the seller regarding an increase and/or limitation
of the warranty not stipulated herein shall be non-enforceable in the
event of any dispute.
In the event the alleged defect is covered under this warranty, no repairs
will be made and no parts will be replaced until the seller has received the
customer’s payment for his share of the depreciation costs, at a declining
rate of 12% of the cost per year.
LIMITATION OF WARRANTY
The warranties mentioned herein shall not apply in cases where the alleged
product and/or component defect or breakage is due to an accident,
misuse, modification or alteration of the product, break in the seal caused
by an external force, non-compliant installation, improper storage or
maintenance, or any other cause unrelated to the quality of the materials
used and/or to their improper assembly.
The seller’s warranty does not cover normal maintenance work, the
replacement of common parts such as weatherstripping, any product
damaged by a force majeure or fortuitous event, broken glass or torn
screen, the formation of frost on aluminium or vinyl parts or condensation
on the glass, discoloration, or rust of metal parts.
This warranty does not cover deterioration or variations in colour or texture
of materials caused by the following (limited list):
Discoloration due to exposure to sunlight and atmospheric pollutants.
Rust or oxidation due to the use of any type of solvent, exposure to salty
ocean air or excessive humidity.
This warranty does not cover multiple defects in the sealant or wood parts
resulting from exposure to excessive humidity or condensation. It also does
not cover defects resulting from repairs or modifications, or attempted
repairs or modifications, by anyone other than staff authorized by the seller.
The seller shall not be held responsible or liable for any loss of benefits or
earnings, or for any other direct, indirect, fortuitous, special, secondary or
accidental damage due to a defect in the seller’s products.
