Fall 2016 Winter 2017
A Message from the Mayor
Welcome to the fall 2016/winter 2017
Caledon Parks & Recreation guide.
The summer of 2016 was full of great
memories, like our 'Caledon Day Gone
Country' community celebration.
And now the chill in the air, the
bronzing of leaves and even the
last tease of warm temperatures in
September, tell us that the season
is changing.
There is no place as beautiful and
wholesome than autumn and winter in
our Town. People come from all over to
see the majestic glow of our lush tree
canopy or to visit our local farm stores
for the best of our fall harvest.
We’ve made some changes to this guide that I think you’re going to like.
We’ve moved drop-in schedules from here to our website
(www.caledon.ca/recreation). We’ve also included a whole new section
for Adults 55+ and our Community groups. I’m also so proud of the dynamic
Swim for Life™ brochure in the centre of this guide. We’ve adopted this
program and we know you’ll have questions about how to register your child
in the appropriate level of lessons. This guide will help you with that.
In Caledon we are fortunate to have access to many wonderful programs
and services available across 13 recreation facilities, as well as 260 km of
publicly-accessible trails and over 65 parks and playgrounds. In this guide
you will find all the information you need to participate and get active in
Caledon this fall and winter.
I encourage you to explore the many unique programs and services
described in this guide and to take advantage of the wonderful
opportunities that Caledon has to offer.

LUMO ART - Introduction to
Art Program Junior
UCMAS Math Program
Intro Junior
Kids are colours and they come in different shades.
We use their inherent shade to blend with
LUMO ART’s technique to develop an artist within
them. We believe that drawing and colouring is a
natural ability that all kids have. Even though art
is a natural ability, a child needs training to excel
in art much like music and sport. LUMO ART is an
art instruction program set up in a project-based
methodology. Our focus is to use project-based
systematic hands on instruction to introduce kids
to the basics of drawing and colouring. The art
program helps cognitive skill development by
teaching children to observe a picture and analyse
it, in a way that kids find engaging and fun.
This is a special introduction course to the LUMO
ART program provides a solid primer for developing
art skills. For more information please visit

Described as ‘mental aerobics’, the UCMAS Mental
Math program helps cognitive skill development by
teaching children to perform mental calculations
quickly and accurately, in a way that kids find
engaging and fun. Using math as a medium and
abacus as a tool, the UCMAS program can help
children improve concentration, memory and
confidence and provide greater proficiency in
math. These crucial skills will enable your child to
process sensory information and eventually learn
to evaluate, analyze, remember, make comparisons
and understand cause and effect. The UCMAS
programs ensures that your child develops these
skills rapidly in the first few years of life and builds
on them progressively throughout grade school.
This special introduction course to the UCMAS
program provides a solid primer for developing
mental math skills. For more information please
