St Mary’s Mission Statement
‘St Mary’s is here to serve God in worship and prayer,
and to serve all of the people of Newton & Flowery
Field. We live to learn more of God and to speak His
name through our actions and example.’
Everyone is welcome at St Mary’s for fellowship and
friendship. We offer groups for all ages, so people can
get to know each other. We are a child-friendly church
and we don’t mind a bit of noise – we just want
everyone to feel accepted and loved.
St Mary’s also works alongside other agencies in
Hyde and Newton, and if you have any other needs,
for example information about food banks, debt
support, and health and employment issues, please
contact Rev Annie Woodcock, or Rev Chris Viney,
and we can help, or direct you to someone who can.

A few words from Rev. Annie and Rev. Chris
Notices and Volunteers
We have journeyed through the Lenten passion time and Easter
time together. We have remembered the crucifixion and
resurrection of our Lord. Jesus has now returned to our Father but
as he promised he leaves his peace with us. Peace does not
mean a life without troubles moreover it means peaceful heart that
is totally dependant on God for guidance. Jesus said when he died
the helper will come in the form of the Holy Spirit.
If you want a name to go on the weekly Prayer list please let me know, also
can you tell me when people are better so we can give thanks.
Luke 3, 22-23 ‘The Holy Spirit descended on him and the voice
came from Heaven ‘you are my son, whom I love’; with you I am
well pleased.’

Getting to know your church family.
Evelyn Bartlett lives on Marler Road with David, her husband is in Riverside
Care Home. Evelyn was born in 1934 in Aspland Maternity Home. I had two
sisters and one brother. I was raised in the war years my brother went into the
army at 18 and Alice my sister worked on the Ammunitions making shells. I
remember the rationing and the evacuees that came, I used to help my mum
with the shopping and counting the points, my toffee coupons was always
spent before time. I went to flowery field Sunday school and school and left in
1949. I worked at Cheshire Ribbon. I remember my sister Jessie and I both
caught Scarlett fever when she was seven and I was five and went to Hyde
hospital for five weeks, my parents had to look at us through a glass window. I
have three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who I
love dearly and I am a long time member at St Mary’s. Look out for Evelyn,
ask who she is and say hello.

Christian Giving
The Bible states that our worship to God includes service, meeting
regularly, and the giving of time and finances. When we give of our
finances we are following a spiritual commitment, which is about giving
back to God what he has given to us.
This Easter time let’s all think about our offerings and pledges in order
to support the work at St Mary’s.
We would be grateful if you would consider making your weekly/monthly
giving to church by regular standing order. If you wish to do this, please
complete the slip below and place it on the plate at the next service you
attend. Angela will then speak to you to explain things further.
Yes, I will be willing to give by standing order.
