When visiting the park, you’ll want to walk the shoreline trail known
as the Malcolm Lowry Trail. Watch for the stone marker, which has
been placed along the trail, and imagine the squatter’s shack on
the beach where Lowry wrote many of his stories. For centuries, the
Tsleil-Waututh Nation occupied these lands and are now active in

Know where Dogs are Not Permitted
· Playgrounds, playing fields, beaches, fitness circuits, tennis
courts, spray pools, picnic areas, running tracks, golf courses,
bowling greens and the North Vancouver Cemetery are off
limits for dogs at all times.
Leaving Dog Droppings Just doesn’t Cut It
· Bring a litter bag for picking up your dog’s droppings.
· Pick up your dog droppings and take home for proper disposal.
Respect the Park, its Plants and Wildlife
· Do not allow your dog to chase any animals, including birds.
· Do not allow your dog to dig holes on beaches or in other areas.
· Keep dogs out of creeks, streams, and ponds.
D6
Crickmay Park has been home to the North Vancouver Horticultural
Hall, Japanese Tea House, Scout Hall and at one time was the terminus of the Lonsdale Streetcar. Today, Crickmay Park has a playground
surrounded by lush gardens and mature trees.
The North Shore is fortunate to have some of the few remaining
salmon bearing streams in Metro Vancouver. A number of North
Shore creeks support populations of coho, chinook and pink salmon,
cutthroat trout, steelhead and Dolly Varden char. Protect our riparian
zones by staying out of sensitive creek, ponds, and river areas.
Tread Lightly on Trails
· Stay on trails to prevent erosion and other soil damage.
· Respect seasonal conditions in parks.
Tips to Protect your Dog’s Image:
Your dog should be licensed, with vaccinations up-to-date.
Do not let your dog jump up on anyone.
Keep dogs which are in season away from off leash areas.
Self-limit the number of dogs being walked to a maximum of
three at any given time.
· Do not leave your dog unattended.
·
·

·
For information about obtaining a dog license visit the District
or City of North Vancouver websites.

Stewardship
With 250 hectares of west-coast rainforest, scenic canyons, pools
and creeks to explore, as well as the Ecology Centre and famous
Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, this park is popular with both
residents and visitors alike. The rugged hiking trails, which vary in
length and expertise, are linked to Metro Vancouver’s Lynn Headwaters Park and Lower Seymour Conservation Area. Park rangers
are on-hand during the summer months to provide more information on this truly west-coast experience. After exploring Lynn
Canyon Park, a snack at the Lynn Canyon Café, open year round, will
be just the thing to round out your visit.

Extending from Marine Drive to the Upper Levels Highway, this trail
system follows MacKay Creek and passes through coastal rainforest, a natural floodplain, open lawn area, a playground and past
all-weather sports fields.
Established in 1914, Mahon Park has winding trails that traverse
along the banks of both Wagg Creek and Mission Creek, as well
as passing by the large upland sports area, complete with sports
fields, gravel running track, playground, spray park and a lighted
baseball diamond and grandstand.
All bursting with activity from May to September, spray parks can
be found at Eldon, Kilmer, Myrtle and Viewlynn Parks. Mahon Park is
the largest spray park, offering over 20 water play pieces to enjoy.

Recognized in 2000 as a Millennium Heritage site, one of twelve such
North Shore locations honoured for their importance to historical,
natural and cultural significance, Maplewood Farm is situated on
agricultural land dating back to the early 1900s. A thriving dairy farm
in the 1920s, this two-hectare visiting farm opened to the public as
a District of North Vancouver park in 1975 and is now home to more
than 200 domestic animals and birds. Visitors can enjoy seasonal
pony rides, a daily milking demonstration, special seasonal events,
and a great gift shop. Popular contact areas are Goathill where the
goat kids and their moms play, and Rabbitat where the bunnies
live. An educational and enjoyable destination for children and
adults alike who want to rekindle the spirit of the North Shore’s rural
heritage and get up close and personal with story book characters.
Admission charges apply. Open 10:00 am – 4:00 pm daily (September

Victoria Park was created as the first and central component of a
system of parks and boulevards promoted as North Vancouver’s
‘Necklace of Parks’. In 1905, area residents began clearing the forest
and by 1910, formal pathways were laid out and lined with European
species of trees; over 100 of these original trees remain today. In the
eastern half of the park is the Cenotaph and Commemorative Flame.

Special Events
North Vancouver parks provide an ideal setting for a wide range
of special community events and festivals organized through the
North Vancouver Recreation Commission (604.983.6575). Popular
annual events include the Carol Ship Festival, Penguin Plunge,
Caribbean Festival and Canada Day Celebrations, as well as competitive events such as the Terry Fox Run and Knee Knacker Race.
Weddings, picnic shelters and special trail events can be arranged
through the Parks Departments at the District of North Vancouver
(604.990. 3800) or, for City Parks, through the North Vancouver
Recreation Commission (604.983.6575).
Planting native plants not only improves the biodiversity of our
communities, but it is water-wise, preserves local heritage and helps
maintain the natural character of North Vancouver.
invasive plants
Invasive plants, such as English Ivy, spread rapidly, choking out
existing native plants. The main contributor to the spread of invasives
is illegal dumping of garden waste, which has contributed to the
reduced ecological health of many natural areas. See www.cnv.org for
suggested alternate plants.
This map was printed on 50% recycled paper containing 25% post-consumer
waste, saving approximately 27 trees, 3,000 lbs of greenhouse gases, almost
10,000 gallons of wastewater and over 1,600 lbs of solid waste. Please
recycle where facilities exist. Printed in Canada. Design: Metaform.com.
