Warwick College, the UK; Brett Singer of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; and Malcum Cunningham from New Zealand Center for Sustainable Cities. Key topics included international perspectives on policy and program initiatives; types and availability of residential assessment instruments; the intersection of
Residential Health and Safety Assessments (RSHA) with weatherization/energy retrofit; and, fostering a preliminary consensus on central issues such as environmental sampling.
Larry Robertson, M.S., B.S., CIEC, CMRS, a recently elected IAQA Director, spoke on newly published research on the analytical precision of spore trap data and called for immediate changes in how laboratories and consultants represent spore trap data to the public. Specifically, the research revealed a significant lack of precision amongst AIHA Accredited laboratories and the need to exercise great caution when interpreting data that lacks a consistent measure of precision. Robertson cited numerous variables that affect the identification of fungi by viewing spores alone and the need for precision measurements to accompany future spore trap data.

The Indoor Environmental Standards Organization (IESO) Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Mrs. Patricia L. Harman to the office of IESO
Secretariat. Her appointment was approved by the IESO Board at its meeting held
June 3, 2011, in Austin, Texas, and takes effect immediately.
Harman comes to IESO with a broad range of pertinent professional experience and education. She is ideally suited to serve as IESO Secretariat, working closely with the IESO Consensus Body and IESO subcommittees to facilitate work-flow and ensure compliance with IESO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ANSI

On behalf of the Restoration Industry Association (RIA), Harman worked directly as staff liaison to the subcommittee that developed what is expected to be IESO's first ANSI-approved standard: IESO - RIA 6001: Evaluation of HVAC Interior
Surfaces to Determine the Presence of Fire-Related Particulate as a Result of a Fire in a Structure.
Harman is a Senior Account Executive with Association & Communications
Management Group (ACMG), the company that provides association management services to IESO and its parent company, the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA).
Harman may be contacted by email at pharman@indoorstandards.org or by telephone at (800) 406-0256, ext. 28.

Carl Grimes, CIEC, of Healthy Habitats, LLC, in Denver, CO, was elected IAQA
President. Donald M. Weekes, CIH, of INAIR Environmental, Ltd., Ontario, Canada, was elected IAQA First Vice President. Elected to the two IAQA Vice President offices were Derrick Denis, CIEC, CIAQP, of Clark Seif Clark, Inc., Tempe, AZ, and
