OnStar with 4G LTE and standard built-in Wi-Fi hotspot provides a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected. The hotspot is on whenever the vehicle is on and comes with a three-month/three gigabyte data trial, after which the customer can purchase additional data. 4G LTE is the most current and fastest mobile data network – 10 times faster than 3G and 100 times faster than the previous generation of OnStar hardware. And with OnStar, it also offers stronger, broader coverage than smartphones on the same network and it’s easy to use: If the vehicle is on, the connection is on. At the time of purchase, six months OnStar Directions and Connections includes all of OnStar’s advisor-based safety and security features, including Automatic Crash Response and Stolen Vehicle Assistance, as well as Turn-by-Turn navigation. Five years of OnStar Basic Plan includes RemoteLink Key Fob Services, allowing owners to remotely start and lock/unlock a car (if properly equipped), and activate the horn and lights from anywhere with a data connection. It also includes OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics, which runs monthly checks of a vehicle’s engine, transmission, anti-lock brakes and more, and Dealer Maintenance Notification, which sends a diagnostic report directly to a preferred dealer to simplify service scheduling. The OnStar with 4G LTE connection will arrive later in the 2015 model year and will include a 3GB/three-month data trial. First-class comfort, capability and driving experience The 2015 Tahoe is engineered to deliver a quieter, more-controlled ride and improved steering and braking feel. It all starts on a stronger, fully boxed, perimeter frame, which supports payload and trailering capability that body-frameintegral crossovers and SUVs can’t match. All models – 2WD and 4WD – feature an updated coil-over-shock independent front suspension design, with forged aluminum upper control arms and cast-aluminum lower control arms on select models. They are 12 pounds lighter per side and 10 percent stiffer than comparable steel components. At the rear is a five-link coil-spring suspension design, which enables optimal ride and handling through more precise tuning. Lateral stiffness was increased at the frame-side joint of the lateral link with the addition of a cross-axis ball joint, for a greater feeling of steering precision. Additional chassis and suspension features include: • A wider rear track that contributes to a more planted stance • Stronger body structure with more high-strength steel for a more solid feel and a quieter cabin • Shear-style body mounts, which reduce body shake and enhance the feeling of structural stiffness, improve damping performance when compared with previous compression mounts • Third-generation magnetic ride control on LTZ models. Its new, dual-electriccoil design enabled engineers to tune with more resolution to handle quickly changing road conditions • Eighteen-inch standard wheels are a half-inch wider, reducing tire flex for improved cornering performance. Twenty- and 22-inch wheels are available • New, electric variable-assist power steering system enhances fuel economy and tailors steering assist to vehicle speed • New four-wheel-disc brake system with Duralife™ brake rotors that offer up to double the service life • Revisions that improve pedal feel for more-confident braking performance • Available automatic locking rear differential that provides greater traction when needed and greater driving comfort when it’s not • Maximum trailering rating of 8,600 pounds (2WD models). More powerful and more efficient Tahoe’s new new EcoTec3 5.3L V-8 engine is rated at 355 horsepower (265 kW) and 383 lb-ft of torque (519 Nm), and features state-of-the-art technologies including direct injection, cylinder deactivation, continuously variable valve timing and an advanced combustion system – all designed to make the most of power, torque and efficiency across a broad range of operating conditions. The technologies contribute to EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway (2WD) – a nearly 10-percent increase in highway mileage over the previous models and 7-percent greater city mileage. Improved engine mounts, electronic throttle control, adaptive exhaust systems, improved aerodynamics and other technologies help the engines operate in four-cylinder mode longer with Active Fuel Management, contributing further to efficiency. A Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission is paired with the new 5.3L engine and contributes to efficiency with reduced engine speed on the highway. It also features TapShift control, tow/haul mode and auto grade braking. 360 degrees of safety Because the safest crash is the one that never happens, the Tahoe is equipped with standard and available technologies that serve as an extra set of eyes and ears to the driver, including an available safety alert seat that vibrates if the system determines the driver is at risk of colliding with another vehicle. Driver assistance begins with a standard rear vision camera that shows the area immediately behind the vehicle in the audio screen. The camera is especially helpful when hooking up a trailer. It also offers the segment’s only Front Center Air Bag (bucket seat models). This available feature deploys from the inboard side of the driver’s seat and inflates between the driver and front passenger, providing added protection for both front occupants in side-impact crashes. Additional standard and available driver alert technologies include: • Side blind zone alert – Uses short-range radar sensors in the rear quarter panels to “look” for other vehicles the driver may not be able to see. If the system detects a vehicle in the adjacent lane, it will illuminate an amber symbol in the outside mirror. If the driver signals to change lanes in the direction of the affected vehicle, the symbol will flash amber. It is standard on LTZ and available on LT models. • Lane change alert – Uses the side blind zone sensors to warn drivers of fast-approaching vehicles up to 230 feet away in the adjacent lane, not just in the blind zone. It is standard on LTZ and available on LT models. • Rear cross traffic alert – Uses the side blind zone sensors to warn drivers of approaching cross traffic while backing up. The system triggers a visual alert on the navigation screen and pulses the safety alert seat if it detects approaching vehicles up to 65 feet away from the right or left. It is standard on LTZ and available on LT models. • Forward collision alert – A camera mounted behind the inside rearview mirror detects when a driver is at risk of hitting the vehicle ahead. A visual alert will display in the instrument cluster and the windshield and the safety alert seat will pulse several times to warn the driver. It is standard on LT and LTZ models, and available on LS. • Lane departure warning – A camera mounted behind the inside rearview mirror detects when the driver drifts into an adjacent lane without signaling, displaying a visual alert in the instrument cluster and pulsing the safety alert seat three times on the side of the lane infraction. It is standard on LT and LTZ models, and available on LS. • Adaptive cruise control – Long-range radar detects a vehicle ahead and automatically adjusts the vehicle’s speed to maintain a pre-selected distance. It is available on LTZ. • Crash imminent braking – If an imminent crash is detected, the brakes will automatically apply to reduce as much vehicle speed as possible to lessen the effects of the collision. • Safety alert seat – Pulses the left, right or both seat cushion bolsters to alert the driver of a dangerous situation. It is standard on LT and LTZ, and is part of the Driver Alert Package available on LS. Additionally, Tahoe offers seven standard air bags, including the segment’s only front-seat center air bag and seat-mounted side-impact air bags help protect the chest and pelvic regions of the driver and outside front passenger in a side-impact. From a security standpoint, Tahoe offers an available security system featuring glass breakage sensors, motion detectors and a self-leveling inclination sensor that sounds an alarm if a thief attempts to steal wheels or tires, or tow or lift the vehicle onto a flatbed truck. The new Tahoe is built at GM’s Arlington, Texas assembly plant, which has received more than $500 million in upgrades and added more than 1,000 employees. ### 2015 CHEVROLET TAHOE SPECIFICATIONS Overview Models: Body style / driveline: Construction: EPA vehicle class: Manufacturing location: Key competitors: Chevrolet Tahoe LS, LT and LTZ 4-door sport utility vehicle, front-engine, 2- or 4-wheel drive, half-ton models body on frame full-size sport utility vehicle Arlington, Texas Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia Engine Type: Displacement (cu in / cc): Bore & stroke (in / mm): Block material: Cylinder head material: Valvetrain: Ignition system: Fuel delivery: Compression ratio: Horsepower (hp / kW @ rpm): Torque (lb-ft / Nm @ rpm): Recommended fuel: Maximum engine speed (rpm): Emissions controls: EPA-estimated fuel economy (city / hwy): EcoTec3 5.3L V-8 (L83) 5.3L V-8 325 / 5328 3.78 x 3.62 / 96 x 92 cast aluminum cast aluminum overhead valve, two valves per cylinder, variable valve timing coil near plug, platinum-tipped spark plugs, low-resistance spark plug wires direct fuel injection with Active Fuel Management 11.0:1 355 / 250 @ 5600 (SAE certified) 383 / 519 @ 4100 (SAE certified) regular unleaded 5800 close-coupled catalytic converter, Quick Sync 58X ignition, returnless fuel rail, fast-response O² sensor 16 / 23 (2WD) 16 / 22 (4WD) Transmission Hydra-Matic 6L80, six-speed automatic Gear ratios (:1): First: Second: Third: Fourth: Fifth: Sixth: Reverse: Final drive ratio: 4.03 2.36 1.53 1.15 0.85 0.67 3.06 3.08 (std.) 3.42 (incl. with Max Trailering Package) Chassis / Suspension Front: Rear: Traction assist: Steering type: Steering ratio: Steering wheel turns, lockto-lock: Turning circle, curb-tocurb (ft / m): independent coil-over-shock; twin-tube shock absorbers; 36mm hollow stabilizer bar; Magnetic Ride Control with LTZ models solid axle with five-link location and coil springs; 28mm hollow stabilizer bar; Magnetic Ride Control with LTZ models all-speed traction control electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion 17.3 3.4 39 / 11.9 Brakes Type: Rotor diameter x thickness (in / mm): power-assisted, four-wheel disc, four-wheel ABS, with Duralife™ rotors; vented front and rear rotors front: 13 x 1.2 / 330 x 30 rear: 13.6 x 0.8 / 345 x 20 Wheels / Tires Wheels: Tires: 18 x 8.5-in. bright machined aluminum (std. on LS and LT) 20 x 9.0-in. polished aluminum (std. on LTZ; opt. on LT) 20 x 9.0-in. chrome aluminum (opt. on LTZ) 22 x 9.5-in. aluminum (opt. on LTZ) P265/65R18 P275/55R20 P285/45R22 Dimensions Exterior Wheelbase (in / mm): Overall length (in / mm): Overall width (in / mm): Overall height (in / mm): Track (in / mm): Minimum ground clearance (in / mm): Step-in height (in / mm): Ground to top of load floor (in / mm): Approach angle (deg): Departure angle (deg): Curb weight (lb / kg): Weight distribution (% front / rear): 116 / 2946 204 / 5181 80.5 / 2044 74.4 / 1889 front: 68.7 / 1745 rear: 68.7 / 1744 2WD: 7.9 / 200 4WD: 7.9 / 200 2WD: 22 / 559 4WD: 22 / 559 2WD: 35.9 / 912 4WD: 35.9 / 912 2WD: 15.5 4WD: 15.5 2WD: 23.2 4WD: 23.2 2WD: 5466 / 2479 (with 20-in. wheels) 4WD: 5683 / 2577 (with 20-in. wheels) 52 / 48 Interior First Row Second Row Third Row 2/3 2/3 2/3 42.8 / 1087 38.7 / 983 38.1 / 967 45.3 / 1150 39 / 990 24.8 / 630 64.8 / 1646 65.1 / 1653 62.6 / 1590 60.8 / 1544 60.3 / 1531 49.3 / 1252 94.7 / 2681 (behind 51.6 / 1462 (behind 15.3 / 433 (behind seat with second, seat with third row seat) third rows folded) folded) Note: 3-passenger bench and 2-passenger bucket seats standard or optional depending on the model.
