Force Sensors Proximity Sensors Kavlico force transducers consist of a precisely machined spring and internally placed LVDT(s). The compression or tension movement of the spring deflects the LVDT. The voltage output and signal is calibrated to correspond to the force input. Force sensors can be supplied as single or multiple channel devices. For aerospace environments, Kavlico manufactures inductive proximity sensors for the same demanding aerospace environments as our linear position sensors. All Kavlico force sensors are customized for the load and performance requirements of each aircraft platform. Boeing series B717, B727, B737, B747, B757, B767, B777, B787, G200 and C-17 aircraft models currently use Kavlico force sensors for control wheel steering and pilot force measurements in compliance with FAA Parameter 88 requirement for flight data records. Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs) Rotary Variable Differential Transformers (RVDTs) Kavlico is the single-largest source for LVDT aerospace sensors in the world. Kavlico LVDTs operate using a non-contacting mutual induction principle, providing friction-free motion and nearly infinite resolution. These sensors have been refined and improved for over 50 years, making Kavlico LVDTs the standard for flight and fuel control position measurements. Kavlico RVDTs are the industry standard for rotary measurements in aviation applications. The lightweight, robust sensors are capable of ±80˚ angular range in single or multiple channel designs. RVDTs with integral gear heads are available for applications with higher angular displacements or multiple revolutions. DC/DC channel RVDTs are available for a variety of aerospace applications. Kavlico is the largest manufacturer of matched multiple channel sensors for redundancy. Multiple channels are provided in a variety of housing designs that can be directly mounted on the airframe control surfaces and cockpit controls, or provided as an integral part of a servo valve or main ram actuator. Specializing in designs for harsh environments, Kavlico RVDTs have been qualified for many high vibration, pressurized aerospace applications. Over 1 million Kavlico LVDTs are installed in aircraft worldwide. Typical LVDT & RVDT applications include position feedback for numerous commercial and military aircraft systems, including flight control actuators, valves, nose wheel steering systems, cockpit controls, engine bleed air systems, fuel controls, fly-by-wire systems, brake-by-wire systems, and environmental control systems. Kavlico has developed and produced differential pressure sensors incorporating bellows with an integrally installed LVDT. This combination produces a highly accurate differential pressure sensor that can withstand wet-wet corrosive fluid in a high temperature, pressure environment. Cockpit Controls Industrial Power Turbine Controls Kavlico designs and manufactures an extensive line of cockpit/pilot control devices that meet the small envelope, minimum weight, and high reliability demands of today’s highly competitive aerospace industry. These uniquely designed devices incorporate our stainless steel RVDT sensors within, and are housed with an aluminum casing. Kavlico understands that every gram counts, so our devices utilize lightweight materials wherever possible, improving fuel efficiency and providing cost savings to you, our customer. Extensive use of Kavlico LVDT and RVDT sensors in the aircraft engine industry has given us a strong position in the power generation turbine industry. Typical baseline uses of our sensors include valves, actuators, and stator guide vane systems for both gas and steam turbine systems. Many of our sensors have been qualified and approved by Factory Mutual, IEC-CENELEC, and ATEX requirements. When it comes to quality and reliability, Kavlico prides itself in going over and above the requirements of our customers’ specifications. With aggressive and extensive testing, we push our devices beyond their limits, preparing each custom product for even more severe environments than expected. • • • • • Speed Brake Landing Gear Control (LGC) Steering Handwheel (SHW) Single Engine Thrust Control Flight Spoiler Control Lever (FSCL)
