Sealed Bids will be received by Water District No. 1 of Johnson County, Kansas
(Owner) at 10747 Renner Boulevard, Lenexa, Kansas 66219-9624, Attention: Mr.
Hanley Barker, Facilities Engineering Manager, until 4:00 p.m., local time, March
29, 2016 for the following Work:
PROJECT MP-15000
MISSOURI RIVER FACILITIES
ELECTRICAL AND HVAC IMPROVEMENTS
At said place and time, and promptly thereafter, all Bids that have been duly
received will be publicly opened and read aloud.
The proposed Work is generally described as follows:
The Work provides for improvements to the existing Missouri River Intake
and Presedimentation Facilities. The proposed Work includes
replacement of 12.47 kV switchgear; replacement of 12.47kV-480V and
4160V-480V transformers; replacement of 4160V motor control lineup
(MCLU); replacement of 480V motor control center (MCC); replacement of
power and lighting panels and electrical circuits; replacement of two 800
hp and one 1250 hp medium-voltage pump motors and furnishing and
installing two medium-voltage adjustable frequency drives; replacement of
heating water boilers and water chiller equipment; replacement of
miscellaneous heating and chilled water system equipment consisting of
heating water pumps, chilled water pumps, expansion tanks, air
separators, and chemical feed pots; replacement of air handling units;
replacement of existing building system pneumatic controls with a digital
control system; mechanical work; electrical work; and all other work as
indicated on the drawings and as specified.
The site of the project is located at 4340 North 60th Street, Kansas City, Kansas
(Missouri River and 60th Street).
All Bids must be in accordance with the Bidding Documents on file with Water
District No. 1 of Johnson County Kansas, and at the office of Black & Veatch
Corporation, 8400 Ward Parkway, mailing address P.O. Box 8405, Kansas City,
Missouri 64114.

advertisement of Project MP-15000 by the Owner. All inquiries about the

Bidding Documents for use in preparing bids are available in either electronic or

Neither Owner nor Engineer has any responsibility for the accuracy,
completeness or sufficiency of any bid documents obtained from any source
other than the sources indicated in these documents. Obtaining these documents
from any other source(s) may result in obtaining incomplete and inaccurate
information. Obtaining these documents from any source other than directly from
the sources listed herein may also result in failure to receive any addenda,
corrections, or other revisions to these documents that may be issued.
Attendance at a pre-Bid conference, as specified in the Instructions to Bidders,
is mandatory.
Bids will be received on a lump sum basis.
Each Bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond (EJCDC Penal Sum form) of 5%
of the amount of the bid or a Cashier’s Check on a solvent bank in the amount of
5% of the amount of the Bid made payable to Water District No. 1 of Johnson
County. Bid security must accompany each Bid. The Bid security shall be made
payable, without exception, to Water District No. 1 of Johnson County, Kansas,
hereinafter referred to as OWNER.

The Successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a
Public Works Bond as security for the faithful performance and the payment of all
bills and obligations arising from the performance of the Contract.
If the Contract is to be awarded, Owner will award a Contract to the Bidder who,
in Owner’s judgment, is the lowest, qualified, responsible, and responsive Bidder.
Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, including without limitation the
right to reject any or all erroneous, nonconforming, nonresponsive, unbalanced,
or conditional Bids, and to reject the Bid of any Bidder or all Bids if Owner
believes that it would not be in the best interest of Owner to make an award to
that Bidder. Owner also reserves the right to waive informalities.
If the Contract is to be awarded, Owner will give the Successful Bidder a Notice
of Award within the number of days set forth in the Bid Form for acceptance of
the Bid.
