The VeriSat Professional Satellite Software Radio PCIe
board provides a professional software defined radio
receiver for satellite communication applications. Up to
75 MHz analogue bandwidth within the L-band input
range (950-2150 MHz) is digitized with up to 125 Msps
at 14 bits resolution with an input dynamic analogue
range of 45 dB. The active input is selected from two or
optionally four L-band on-board inputs. The firmware
Channelizer supports decimation and filtering
of several independent channels with 4 times
oversampled output at arbitrary symbol rate as output.
Drivers are available for Windows and Linux.
L-band Input, 75 MHz Bandwidth
One input is selected from the 2 inputs (optionally 4 inputs)
that may be connected to the board. The integrated L-band
tuner has an input range of 950-2150 MHz, and performs
zero IF downconversion with 75 MHz baseband filtering.
Analogue Signal Level Range
The input signal has a large dynamic range of 45 dB for
fullscale ADC range operation, which is sufficient for most
applications. The ADC has 14 bits resolution.
Channel Isolation
The isolation between the any of the input channels and
the active channel is 35 dB which means that presence of
any signal on the non-selected inputs will not disturb or
interfere with the active input signal analysis.
Aanalogue to Digital Conversion
The ADC digitizes the filtered baseband signal with a I&Q
sampling rate of 125 Msps. This ensures that the 75 MHz
analogue bandwidth can be captured and processed with
neglible aliasing from any out-of-band carriers even with
high composite power levels.

125 Msps Sample Output
The digitized 125 Msps I&Q streams are handled by the
onboard FPGA where the samples may be output to the
PCIe bus at the full 125 Msps I&Q rate or processed by the
Channelizer.
Time-stamped Samples
Samples are provided as buffers with time stamp or sample
count. Sampling can be synchronised with the Sync input
signal.
Channelization
This optional firmware module supports the option of
preprocessing the input bandwidth by dividing the signal
into independently selected channels within the 75 MHz
bandwidth, where each channel is processed individually
to output the desired channel bandwidth at arbitrary channel bandwidth or symbol rate resolution:
• Channel output: 0.1 Hz resolution
• Single carrier output: 0.1 sps
The outputs of each channel is 2 time or 4 times oversampled (two or four I and Q samples per Hz or per symbol).
PCIe Interface
The 4-lane PCIe 2.0 interface provides a stable , highspeeed interface to the server motherboard.
Sync and Reference
External 10 MHz and Sync inputs allows the sampling to be
triggered with high accuracy or synchronised to external
timing such as a GPS time and frequency reference. The
internal 10 MHz reference has an accuracy of 2.5 ppm.
