The hardwood floors are perfect in color. I recommend removal of existing window treatments for a clean look that does not interfere with the views. This provides a contrasting base for the white furnishings. The color, texture and pattern works well with the glass and steel accents. 3 2 A modern white leather sectional makes a bold statement but still allows the exterior views and artwork to take center stage. A sectional works well in the space creating a good conversation / seating area that is directed toward the view and away from the kitchen. 4 This glass and steel coffee table anchors the conversation area of the room. Since the table is large, using glass does not add weight to the room. COFFEE TABLE ACCESSORY SUGGESTIONS Add a modern throw to the couch seating to provide a shot of color and add softness. A large arching floor lamp provides ambience and a task light for the end of the sectional. Its form adds a sculptural element to the living space. 1 DESIGN CONCEPT CONSOLE TABLE ACCESSORY SUGGESTIONS 6 5 Choose a modern shaped lamp in a statement color for the console table behind the sectional. Add a long narrow console table behind the sectional. This provides an area for lighting and accessory objects of interest. Since the table is not very visible I chose a simple design. Add a sculptural art piece for interest behind the sectional. END TABLE ACCESSORY SUGGESTIONS 7 This glass nesting table at the end of the sectional is so light and airy, it does not add heaviness to the room but provides a spot for a task lamp and some small accessories such as the succulent plant, a candle, or a book. 8 Select a small, simple task lamp for the end table. You could use a second matching one on the #10 table below also if you wanted task lighting by the chair. 11 9 Modern and comfortable, this great shaped chair makes a statement, It also breaks up the height plane of the other furnishings by adding a taller furniture piece. 10 I chose this smaller table because it is a different material than the other tables and has an elegant shape. Perfect with the chair. I chose a large tree with big leaves for drama. Great in the corner, bringing some of the nature outside into the space. Select a modern, large container. The style and graphite color of the container below compliments the furniture and the rug. 1 DESIGN CONCEPT 12 I continue the design flow from the living room by adding the glass and metal dining table in your second space. DINING TABLE ACCESSORY SUGGESTIONS Groupings of candles at several different heights. I would recommend 5-7 candles for an impactful centerpiece statement depending on their size. 13 18 Armless white leather chairs for the dining table. Another large art piece for the wall between the dining room and living room. Make sure the art in the room is complimentary. 14 Large modern art for above the buffet is critical to add color to your space. 17 Simple sconces on either side of the art add ambience and completion to that wall. 15 This wood buffet is the perfect mix with the glass, metal and white leather. It adds warm tones and interest. Because the wood is lighter in color it does not dominate the area. 16 SIDEBOARD ACCESSORY SUGGESTIONS I used two white leather chairs that compliment the dining chairs, but are different in style, placed on either side of the buffet under the sconces. You could also use two of these as end chairs to the dining room table with the armless chairs #13 as the side chars. fresheye DESIGN, LLC LI V I N G SPA C E & D I N I N G S PA C E CLIENTS JO H N & KA R EN P R OJ E C T D E TA ILS JAN U ARY 11, 2016 John and Karen are home owners with two spaces to furnish, living and dining. Anchor your living room with a modern area rug. This small graphic pattern is great with the color scheme. See rugs in inspiration room photos-page 2. 4 3 Two contrasting black leather chairs finish off the seating area. The open arms and wood frame don’t let these chairs get too heavy for the room. This glass and wood coffee table anchors the conversation area of the room. It is light and airy with a modern organic shape. COFFEE TABLE ACCESSORY SUGGESTIONS 11 This floor lamp is simple but beautiful in its shape and materials. Choose a floor lamp with design interest, it will make a statement in the space. 2 DESIGN CONCEPT 6 5 7 CONSOLE TABLE ACCESSORY SUGGESTIONS 8 I recommend a console for behind the sofa that has more substance, such as this cabinet piece. It can provide storage for the dining room and it conceals the back of the couch from view. This makes a great end table by the sofa. I like the cubist shape. Books can be neatly stacked in the lower area if you like that look or it can be left plain below. Just remember, no clutter. A small bowl, plate, book or coasters could add some interest to the end table. Whatever you choose it should be simple and not too large. Choose a simple modern shaped lamp. Since this is not a primary lamp in the space I would advise you to keep the design simple so it does not take away from the lamp on the console peice behind the couch - #8. Choose a taller end table at the end of the sofa so that the table can be seen as you enter the room and the lighting sits a little higher to illuminate the end of the couch and spill light to the chair. 9 END TABLE ACCESSORY SUGGESTIONS Select a statement lamp for the console cabinet. This lamp is right in the middle of the room so it is very visible, therefore, I chose something sculptural with beautiful materials. 12 10 A smaller interesting lamp on the end table adds ambient illumination to that end of the sofa. I think it is interesting to add the natural finished ceramic material in a soft color for interest without competing with other elements in the room. A perfect example of a handcrafted art piece for on top of the console. It could pull in some of the color from your artwork Above the sofa by the wall select one large horizontal canvas or two large canvases as demonstrated in concept one. 2 DESIGN CONCEPT 13 14 This oval shaped dining table comfortably seats eight people. I like something light and simple so not to compete with the beautiful chairs. Select graphic art for the wall between the living and dining/kitchen area. You can choose one large vertical canvas or a grouping of two as I have shown to the right. 18 SIDEBOARD ACCESSORY SUGGESTION This is another statement lighting piece in the space. Select something with interest that plays off the materials going on in the space. 16 A simple pendant above the table offers interest and illumination without competing with or obstructing the views to the outside from the kitchen. 15 A modern dining end chair with arms works well on the ends of the oval table. 15 &19 An armless side chair is my recommendation for around the sides of the dinner table and also to replace the white chairs at your kitchen counter seating. These extra chairs can pull in nicely to the dinner table when you need them. 17 This sideboard/buffet table compliments the the console cabinet behind the couch. I kept this simple and open as it is in front of the glass and I did not want it to have the same weight of the console cabinet.
