The repair is complete when the tool can be turned with less resistance. Revision 09/2012 - GM_TIMESERT Application Step 1 Step 2 Using the T-handle wrench and the step reamer, ream the hole to the full depth permitted by the stop collar. Keep the reamer as square as possible to the hole. Use the piloted tap and tap the hole. Keep the tap as square as possible. Thoroughly clean and dry the hole. Step 3 Step 4 Hold the insert setting tool and use hex wrench to lightly tighten the socket head cap screw. Screw the insert onto the setting tool. Apply a small amount of high temperature sealer around the bottom few threads of the insert. Use a 5/8” socket to screw the insert firmly into the prepared hole. Release cap screw with hex key. Then use a 5/8” socket and remove the setting tool. Use oil on this tool. Use the T-handle wrench to rotate the insert driver through the insert. When the driver tightens up, continue to rotate the driving tool until it loosens up. Remove the tool by backing it out or screwing it through the insert. Taper Seat © 2012 WURTH USA, Inc. Revision 09/2012 - GM_TIMESERT Application Washer Seat Sealer This sealer must be used when installing taper seat inserts. Step 1 Step 2 Start step tap into the hole to be repaired. Use the wrench and tap new threads. Continue to tap through until the cutting edges are approximately 1/4” below surface. Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Leave the step tap in the hole and place the seat cutter over the shank. Using the wrench, rotate the seat cutter. After a few turns, lift the seat cutter to inspect the seat. Repeat operation until the seat is completely cleaned up. Back the step tap from the hole while removing any burrs from the top thread. Lubricate the insert driver and start insert into hole. Use the wrench and rotate the driver through the insert. When the insert is seated the driver will tighten up. With increased pressure continue to rotate the driver until it loosens up. Remove driver tool. Repair is complete. Solid steel treads are square to the reconditioned seat, insuring a good spark plug seal. Insert Driver Oil This oil is superior for installing inserts.
