Würth Industrie Service reserves Choosing the new Würth Surface Systems you have the following advantages: • Repeatable preload forces due to defined coefficients of friction for all coating systems • Conforms to the latest environmental laws: - EU Directive 2011/65/EU „RoHS“ EU Directive 2012/19/EU „WEEE“ EU Directive 2000/53/EU on end-of-life vehicles VDA list (GADSL) REACh Regulation EG 1907/2006 „REACh“ • Maximum corrosion resistances • Uniform surface designations • Maximum quality standard • Cost savings due to a reduced number of different parts 3 INNOVATIVE surfAcE sysTEms Construction Notes Which coating type for which application? Searching the optimum corrosion protection there are a large number of factors to observe. Factors are: - the environment the respective component material the design of the part as well as legal and normative requirements. Our product and application service would be happy to help you find the optimum coating for your specific application. High-strength parts Disadvantages of electroplated coatings on parts with property class 10.9 or more (zinc, zinc-nickel alloys) can be compensated by zinc flake coatings. There is an increased risk of hydrogen embrittlement if high-strength or case-hardened parts have got an electroplated surface coating. This applies to fasteners having a core or surface hardness higher than 320 HV or a tensile strength of more than 1,000 MPa. Any further treatment of the parts (e.g. heat treatment) cannot completely exclude hydrogen embrittlement according to DIN EN ISO 4042. Trueness to gauge size of zinc flake coatings Würth Surface Systems with zinc flake coating are only availble for thread diameters ≥ M6. The reason for this is that thread pitches smaller than 1 mm are not completely true to gauge size. Therefore and in accordance with the latest technical standards zinc flake coatings can only be used without restrictions for thread components ≥ M6. In cooperation with licensors and coating engineers we are currently developing reliable solutions for dimensions ≤ M5. Nevertheless, restrictions on the lifetime of corrosion protection have to be accepted for some cases. Zinc flake coatings on products with internal drives If you use zinc flake coatings for products with internal drives smaller than M6, undesirable material accumulation may occur. In this case an optimum load transmission cannot be ensured.
