Introduction
The degree program in industrial engineering at the HTW Berlin is one of the best MBA
programs of its kind in Germany. In the Fachhochschul ranking of the WirtschaftsWoche
HTW Berlin ranked 5th nationwide in 2015. More than 500 HR managers are annually
surveyed to conclude these rankings. Graduates are able to identify and exploit
relationships between both individual disciplines. Furthermore the aim is to teach students
to control these areas to such an extent that a qualified working at both interfaces in
different professional fields is possible. A fee applies for corporations interested in having
their challenge solved.
Objectives
The objectives of this course is to prepare industrial engineers to work at the intersection of
technical and business issues, solving challenges related to technology and management.
Traditionally, future employers come from the manufacturing industries such as automotive and
mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace industry, as well as chemical and metal
production. Furthermore, industrial engineers are increasingly in high demand in consulting firms,
and industry-related service companies. The range of fields in which the this particular knowledge
can be put into practice is virtually unlimited, with a focus in the areas of:
• Logistics • Materials Management • Purchasing, Marketing • Sales, Production, Accounting •
Controlling and Technology and Innovation Management.
Competences & Skills
The course fosters on enriching Engineering and Management students with valuable
competencies such as:
1. deal with complex technical & economic tasks using project management methods
2. empower future managers to manage international project teams

Project Outline
1. Please submit your challenge until 15.07.2016 through TELANTO’s Academic Business
Network (follow the link below).
2. The course professor will go through a rigorous evaluation & selection process to pass
5 challenges to his students.
3. In a digitised bidding process, students apply to the selected challenges.
4. After the successful team composition, you will be invited to an official kick-off event to
the HTW Berlin campus and the solution process begins.
5. During the solution phase you will be given the unique opportunity to collaborate &
monitore your team of 5 students virtually on TELANTO’s collaboration space.
6. Review & Award your solutions in the form of a final report and presentation at the end of
the collaboration.
Solutions & Methods
The output language of the solutions will be in ENGLISH. Company Seekers can expect
real solutions to their proposed challenges. Past projects delivered solutions such as:
1. definition of local requirements in 5 different countries for one technical consumer product,
i.e. a car, conflicts of interests, solution and presentation of harmonised user requirements
2. creation & development of new product/service features for the modernisation of current
trains/undergrounds/tramways incl. feasibility study and profitability analysis
3. concept for smart phone applications for frugal agricultural machines
4. international market analysis for electric buses in local public transport (London, Shanghai,
Detroit, Berlin)
5. concepts for increasing the rear passenger comfort in luxury limousines
