 IEC 61360 series for “Common Data Dictionary” basics
 Product ontology (data dictionary) model covering all the IEC domain
 Data model is shared by both ISO and IEC, as ISO13584-42 and IEC61360-2.
 Part4, known as IEC 61360 CDD, is the cross-domain repository of metadata for IEC.
 All parts are listed as basic reference in ISO/IEC Directive Part2.
 The standard series is confirmed as one of the first set of standards for Smart Grid by
CEN, CENELEC, ETSI ( sometimes by the code of EN 61360 )
 IEC 62656 series for “Interface and Extension” of IEC CDD
 Specification of ontology elements in a set of tabular forms, e.g., spreadsheets, or
relational tables.
 This is to provide input/output interface for IEC61360 CDD.
 Physical means of exchange may be CSV, XLS, XLSX, XML or any other
 Data model (POM) extends the IEC CDD model, and adds capacity to model itself and
evolve over time.
 IEC 62720 for dictionary of Units of Measurements
 Data dictionary for unique identification of UoMs not only of SI but also non
SI units including Imperial units, to be incorporated into IEC CDD.
 To be referenced by other standards and applications.

 Part-1 : Explanation, instructions, and interpretation
about the common data model defined in Part2
 Standardization for Ed.4 is underway
 Part-2 : Common data dictionary data model shared
with Part42 of ISO 13584
 Part-4 : Online database, known as IEC CDD of meta
data, used for the description of electrotechnical
products and services, managed according to IEC
supplementary directive--Annex J. Consequently, the
registered items have the status of International
Standard.

IEC 61360-4 Common Data
Dictionary (CDD)
 Data dictionary based on IEC 61360-ISO 13584
common data model. The original content consists of
480 classes and1,656 properties. Besides, there are
classes and properties derived from IEC61987-11,
and IEC62683.
 Being maintained in IEC online database, and
anyone can access free of charge.
 Import and export data interface based on IEC62656-
1 is being built and already operational. Web-service
interface is being planned.
