ABOUT THE INSTITUTE Government College of Engineering, Chandrapur has been established by Government of Maharashtra in 1996, which is now developed into one of the prime technical learning center in the region. It is spread over a campus of 62 Acres on Ballarshah road with all the needed infrastructural facilities and amenities. The institute offers UG programs in six engineering disciplines, viz., Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Science and Engineering and Instrumentation with a total intake capacity of 340. The institute is in receipt of grants under TEQIP-II. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology in the country. The Govt. of India conferred on the Institute, the Deemed to be University status (under University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Section 3 of 1956) with effect from 26th June 2002. Subsequently, the Central Govt. by Act of Parliament (National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007 (29 of 2007)) declared VNIT Nagpur as an Institute of National Importance along with all other NITs. The Act was brought into force from 15th August 2007. Earlier, the Institute was known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE). It was established in the year 1960 under the scheme sponsored by Govt. of India and Govt. of Maharashtra. The college was started in June 1960 by amalgamating the State Govt. Engineering College functioning at Nagpur since July 1956. In the meeting held in October 1962, the Governing Board of the College resolved to name it after the eminent engineer, planner, and statesman of the country Sir M.Visvesvaraya. ABOUT STTP With ever increase in power demand and increasing grid size, need arises to developed and control the smart grid which utilizes various conventional and renewable sources. An electrical and electronics engineer has to work in the area of generation transmission and distribution of electrical power. They are responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and maintaining equipment which is use to monitor and control engineering system. They have to make sure that this systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely in companies working in the area of nuclear and renewable energy as well as environmental agencies. Therefore the faculty members working in various institutes need to update their theoretical and practical knowledge for the ultimate benefit of the students and society. COURSE CONTENTS This STTP will primarily focus on Power Electronics Converter, Smart grid technology, Electric storage system, Grid integration, Electric vehicle, Condition monitoring systems, and Artificial Intelligence techniques in power electronics etc. Sufficient hands-on experimental sessions will also be held during the STTP. RESOURCE PERSON The course will be conducted by distinguished Faculty members of IIT, Mumbai, Delhi & VNIT, Nagpur.
