They employ a compact array of power absorbing elements mounted in a rectangular duct-like case with a heavy duty fan at one end. The energy absorbed by the heating elements is transferred to the air being driven through the duct which can then be directed through an open doorway. The control box, mounted on top of the duct and above the fan houses the master circuit interrupt switch along with the load switches and ammeter. Two-way overload protection is provided by a thermal switch which senses overheating and by an air flow switch which senses loss of cooling air. Operation of either of these switches will trip the master circuit interrupt switch and sound a 95dB buzzer alarm. A combination of a 123XL-2 and two 150XL-2 load boxes may be connected together to provide a maximum of 40kW of power dissipation. FEATURES Compact Portable High Capacity Easy to operate Chart recorder connections Designed to attach to the model 123XL-2 3 year warranty DESCRIPTION The Model 914XL Electronic Current Regulator is an optional auxiliary unit designed to operate in conjunction with the Model 123XL Portable Load Box. Its purpose is to automatically maintain the battery discharge current at the specified level over the duration of the test as the battery voltage diminishes. It does this by a feedback arrangement whereby the discharge current, measured by means of a shunt within the load box, is compared to a stable reference within the current regulator. As the discharge current tends to fall below the reference level, the comparator causes additional current to be drawn from the battery to restore the original equality.
