Our Organization
Kenneth Young Center (KYC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, provider of community based mental health
and senior citizens support services based in Elk Grove Village, IL. Our mission is to help people feel
good, do better and find solutions by providing counseling, assessment, treatment, mentoring, in-home
support, vocational services and resource coordination. Our service area extends throughout the
Northwest Suburbs with heavy concentration in Elk Grove and Schaumburg Townships. We attempt to
serve all people regardless of income and insurance.
We have a wonderful resale shop located in Schaumburg, IL which serves as a fundraiser for our
programs. Our resale shop allows individuals to connect with the community by offering a variety of
volunteer opportunities. It also provides a place where people can come for high quality, low cost items.
2013 was an incredible year. Our permanent supportive housing partnership, Myers Place, opened
creating housing services for 39 disabled individuals. For the first year ever over 50 percent of our
funding was devoted to children. Seniors began an in-hospital program to screen and follow up with
at-risk discharges and exceeded the research targets for reducing 30 day re-hospitalization. Our
reputation as an outstanding provider was confirmed by scoring in the 97th percentile on a national
benchmarking initiative for overall client satisfaction.
We have many accomplishments to celebrate this year and we are truly grateful to the staff, volunteers,
Board of Directors, funders and community partners who have made it all possible. Their continued
support and commitment helps us achieve our mission.
