Grading:
Homework Policy: (Approximately 15% of grade) EXPECT HOMEWORK EVERY DAY!!
 ALL homework is to be done in gray pencil.
 Homework will be graded by 1 of 2 methods: Accuracy or completeness. The method of grading will
not be known beforehand. You must show your work to receive credit.
 ALL homework is due the following school day at the beginning of the hour, unless otherwise stated.
 Late Work Policy: Students may turn in 2 late assignments for full credit per quarter. A late
assignment must be turned in on or before the chapter test. Late assignments beyond two will not
be accepted.
Daily Formative Assessments (bell work, quizzes, CFAs): (Approximately 15% of grade).
 Bell work and quizzes will be given regularly. Also, 3-week common formative assessments (CFAs)
will be given throughout the year. Most of the formative assessments will be comprehensive.
Tests: (Approximately 70% of grade)
 A Unit test will be given at the end of each chapter(s). It will cover the material in the chapter notes
and on the assignments. Comprehensive Tests (End of Quarter Exams) will also be given
throughout the school year.
 A Comprehensive Final will be given at the end of each semester. Each final will be equivalent to a
unit test. See the student handbook for Finals Policies.
Cheating:
 Cheating will not be tolerated and will result in zero credit for that assignment/quiz/test. If another
person allowed you to cheat, that person will also receive zero credit for that assignment/quiz/test.
Accountability:
 Be Prepared – This means that every day you walk through the door you should have your assignment,
text, binder, pen & pencil, laptop, and calculator. If you must go back to your locker or any place else
to retrieve one of the items mentioned, then a tardy will be assigned to you.
 Absentee Policy – When absent you are responsible to acquire everything you missed from a
classmate or from the teacher before returning to class. This includes assignments, worksheets,
projects, test/quizzes, and especially notes. All assignments are posted in the classroom, on the SIS
Parent Portal, and on the teacher's webpage (http://oz.schoolwires.net//Domain/533). When a
student is absent, homework must be made up within 2 class periods for each class period missed.
Tests and quizzes need to be made up within the time frame given to you by the teacher when you
return from your absence. A student who misses class due to participation in a school activity is
responsible for turning in the assignment due that day before the missed class period. They
are also responsible to turn in all new work assigned for the day of absence on the day they
return to class.
Cell Phones:
 Cell phones should never be seen or heard while in this class. This includes not using them as a
calculator. See Classroom Discipline Policy below.
Laptops:
 Students should use the laptop as directed by the teacher. Laptops are not for games, movies or music
unless the teacher has given special permission. Inappropriate use will result in an office referral.
Classroom Discipline Policy:
 Disruptive behavior has an effect on everyone’s learning progress in a classroom, therefore it will not
be tolerated. Disruptive behavior includes student talking or getting out of his/her seat without
permission, making unnecessary noises, throwing objects, physically or verbally antagonizing or
hurting another student, or any other behavior which would disrupt the learning environment. The
following is the policy for handling such behavior.
