BALTIC SEA SUMMER UNIVERSITY
« THE BALTIC COUNTRIES IN EUROPE »
REPORT OF THE SESSION
TALLIN (Estonia)
July 12th to 17th 2015
-1 -
The second edition of the Baltic sea summer university, was organised in Tallin from
July 11th to 17th with the kindly collaboration of Euroakadeemia, the same partner of
the 2014’s session.
The foreign students were accommodated in the guest hostel of the university, very
close to the old town and using common transportation very easily to join the
University.
The academic program was structured around some issues of “The Baltic countries
in Europe” The group, coming from all over the world, represented 7 different
countries.
The Academic sessions contained approximately 30 hours of lectures, seminar,
institutional visits and discussions in groups. They were conducted in English by
international experts from European Union, Russia, and of course Estonia.
All the participants enjoyed a rich program of additional studies that allowed them
to appreciate the culture of this special Baltic country. A very, very popular
excursion was offered to some famous places in the country.
All the candidates completed the program successfully and received a certificate of
participation. Additionally, those students who presented some more work after the
session acquired ECTS Credits.
We also asked our students at the end of the session to fill out the evaluation
questionnaire and comment upon our programme. Their observations, which can be
found further on in this report have been of a great value for us.
Thanks to the very friendly involvment of our Estonian partner Leonid who
immediately formed that special bond which made the group friendly for many and
many years.
Thanks to Konrad Adenauer Stiftung that facilitated the participation of a few very
interested candidates from Russia, Bielorussia and Ukraina.
We hope that this session in Tallin will be a very nice memory for each one

EVALUATION
This programme, organised in Tallin for the second time was considered as a success by all the
students and lecturers. The examination of the evaluation forms have proved a very large satisfaction. We
can consider that the program has been widely praised with a level of satisfaction of more than 94 %.
The candidates were nicely surprised by their hostel, located very close from the old city and
really comfortable. This campus, offering twin rooms and a large common kitchen with all the necessary
equipment, gave them the opportunity to organise, every evening, a “special dinner” testing all the
speciality of the represented nationalities. Due to the support of the Foundation Konrad Adenauer, a
group of candidates coming from Russia, Bielorussia and Ukrainia were invited to take part in the
program. They were considered as very good candidates, with a high academic level and very interested
with the program
A bus, just in front of the hostel was the best way to easily join the university each morning.
Regarding the lectures and the speakers, the candidates have all noticed a very large satisfaction
about - relations with the staff,
- administrative assistance offered before and during the program
- cultural and tourist activities offered outside the program
- conduction of the educational program, etc.
The choice of topics was appreciated and for the majority of the group, all the topics were relevant
and presented in a very interesting and proper way. All the students made many positive comments about
the team of lecturers, and judged the programme as a very high level even if really overbooked. The
academic programme was very intensive but with a good balance between courses and visits. They also
were very impressed by the visit of the Parliament.
Although the candidates, with the help of their new Estonian friends, have appreciated the
opportunity to explore the city openly and widely during the evening and the excursion, organised in the
middle of the week, was considered as a cultural, but very funny time, of this session.
The students also appreciated relationship with the director of the programme and the partner.
The general opinion was that the opportunity of an academic program and experience of living together
with so many representatives of other nationalities will benefit each and everybody in the future. As
usually, the group did not want to leave and the session seemed "too short"!
In conclusion, all candidates have been very satisfied with the program and expressed the wish to
follow another summer session of CIFE in the future. A "Goodby party" organised at the end of the
programme, gave the opportunity for every student to receive a certificate proving his participation in the
programme.
CIFE warmly thanks Euroacademy Tallin, specially the Dean of the Faculty of International
Relations, Leonid Karabeshkin who was a perfect partner, but also a very nice friend
