HIGHER EDUCATION IN ESTONIA
I CYCLE: BACHELOR’S The nominal
length of the academic Bachelor’s study programme is 3 years and studies give a total
of 180 ECTS credit points. Graduates from
Bachelor’s programmes are awarded a Bachelor’s
degree.
The nominal length of the first cycle professional higher education studies lasts for 3-4
years (180-240 ECTS credits) leading to a
professional higher education diploma.
II CYCLE: MASTER’S
The nominal length
of Master’s studies is 1-2 years (60-120 ECTS

All applicants are
required to have a qualification giving them
access to university studies in their home country.
In most cases, when applying, you need to
present your application, previous education
diploma (Bachelor’s diploma) and transcripts.
You also have to present proof of knowledge in
English. All internationally recognised language
proficiency tests are accepted (like TOEFL or
IELTS), though some institutions may also run
individual language tests. Depending on the
institution and programme, there may be
additional entrance tests, such as an interview, a
written essay, a portfolio etc. Some universities
have an application fee of 30-100 euros.

There are many scholarships available for
international Master’s students! In addition, there are several programmes with
tuition fee waivers to study free of charge!

During your studies, you are allowed to

are about 300-500 euros in
addition to housing costs. Monthly rent for
dormitory is 70-100 euros, rent for one bedroom apartment is about 250-400 euros.
The academic year starts at the beginning of September and is divided into
