Low Jitter
Raltron announces a new family of differential positive emitter coupled logic (PECL) crystal
oscillators. The new family is available in both fixed frequency clocks and voltage controlled
crystal oscillators between 100 Mhz and 207.36 MHz. The PECL versions of each oscillator
type also offer complimentary output. Particular emphasis on these new products are geared
toward the 10, 16 and 32 Gigabit Ethernet, OC-3, OC-12, and OC-48 applications that utlize
frequencies of 155.52 MHz, 156.25 MHz and 200 MHz. Also available is 166.6285 MHz for
forward error correction in Optical Transmission Networks (OC-48).
This new series being offered by Raltron is ideal for Gigabit Ethernet applications in high
speed, wide bandwidth LAN technologies. Additionally, the frequency range between 100
MHz and 207.36 MHz make the oscillator family well suited for Fiber Channel, ATM over
SONET, and a variety of other telecom applications.
The VCXO utilizes Raltron’s inverted mesa crystal technology to achieve less than 1 ps RMS
of jitter in the 12 kHz to 20 MHz band. The frequency can be pulled over a range of ±50 PPM
to ±100 PPM as an absolute pulling range (APR).
Miami The clock version uses high frequency, high Q overtone crystals and has an overall accuracy
of less than ±20 PPM over standard operating conditions for 10 years. The jitter is also
New York extremely low, less than 1 ps RMS over a 12kHz to 20 MHz.
Texas Both clocks and VCXO’s are available in 5 V and 3.3 V supply voltage. The full frequency
range is 60 MHz to 207.36 MHz. Standard frequencies are 100 MHz, 106.25 MHz, 125 MHz,
California 133 MHz,155.52 MHz, 156.25 MHz 166.6285 MHz, and 200 MHz for Ethernet, Fiber ChanGermany
