performance from their copper network
infrastructure to deploy 100 Mbps service.
The ADTRAN hiX 5600 VDSL2 Vectoring
line card provides carriers with a single slot
module that offers 72 ports and provides the
operator an optimised solution for All Digital
Line or DSL over POTS services, including full
onboard line test capabilities manageable from
remote. This allows carriers to optimise their
network infrastructure, providing simplified
deployment and provisioning options and
lowering overall operational cost.
The ADTRAN 72-port VDSL2 vectoring line
card provides the active crosstalk cancellation
(vectoring) of the noise from surrounding lines
in the same cable binder. Vectoring groups of up
to 72 ports are supported on a single card by
Board-Level Vectoring (BLV). For applications
where more than one line card is required, the
service unit SU_SLV384 can provide a central
vectoring engine for up to six VDSL2 vectoring
line cards, which allows System-Level Vectoring
(SLV) of up to 384 lines in one cable.
The VDSL2 vectoring line card is optimised
for DSL-only, also called “All Digital Loop”
application with its spectrum compatible to
G.992 Annex B, but as well it fulfills the
requirements for over POTS bands and is
spectrum compatible to G.992 Annex A. Both
applications are supported by special onboard
MELT features for remote line testing of the DSL
circuit. The onboard line test is manageable from
the network management system.
Flexible and configurable, the VDSL2 line card
allows operators to configure both upstream and
downstream transmission rates or allows the
interfaces to adapt to the best possible rates on
the subscriber loop. The 72-Port VDSL2 line
card also supports IGMP proxy and snooping
for IPTV applications.
Each vectoring line card IU_VDSL72-ADL-D1
occupies one line card slot of the hiX 5600
system, which supports broadband data delivery,
triple play (voice, video, and data) and next gen
Voice over IP (VoIP) via SIP and H.248. Up to
1,008 subscribers can be supported by this line
card in a full equipped hiX5635 chassis.
The service modes and line characteristics
are determined by an individual profile
configuration of the port. The vectoring line
card supports VDSL2 vectoring, conventional
VDSL2 and ADSL2+/ADSL2 on a per-port basis.
The traffic management is configurable to each
individual port. Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM)
bonding for two- or four-pairs using G.bond is
supported. Policing and shaping per quality of
service queue can support time critical services
like voice or video data.
Through Universal Vectoring the line card
supports coexistence of CPEs with different
capabilities: supporting vectoring, behave
vectoring friendly or non-vectoring capable.
The hiX 5600 MSAN supports a wide
variety of management options. An Ethernet
10/100Base-T interface is used for Telnet access
and for connection to SNMP networks.
Environmentally hardened, the vectoring line
card can be installed in both Central Office (CO)
and Remote Terminal (RT) environments.
